Ronaldinho could join Real

With relations between Ronaldinho and his club Barcelona strained, the player's brother and agent Roberto Assis has admitted a summer transfer to Real Madrid is a possibility.

The 27-year-old has played just seven full games so far this season, and has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Nou Camp - with Milan and Chelsea among several clubs reportedly interested in him and his agent refusing to discount a move to bitter rivals Real.

The Brazilian came under renewed pressure when scans showed he was not carrying a thigh injury, despite the player's claims to the contrary keeping him out of Barca's 4-1 win over Valladolid.

Ronaldinho reportedly has a release clause in his contract, but with the value thought to be prohibitively high, a more likely option should he be determined to leave would seem the possibility of invoking article 17 of FIFA's transfer regulations.

This allows players to buy out the remainder of their contract under certain circumstances and would likely prove a cheaper option.

Assis told GloboEsporte.com: "The possibility for Ronaldinho leaving Barcelona is always there.

"We are aware of the release clause, but we also know about the existence of article 17. Anything is possible.

"In football, results determine how things go. Barcelona have not won anything since last season and, as Ronaldinho is the star of the team, he is the one who is given the worst criticism."

Assis did not rule out the possibility of Ronaldinho moving to Real Madrid, saying: "It has already happened a number of times, even to big names such as Luis Figo.

"However, I don't like to name specific clubs."

Assis added Ronaldinho could well stay at the Nou Camp should Barca win either the Primera Liga or Champions League title.

He said: "The relationship is strained, but imagine if Barca win the Champions League. They wouldn't let him go if he was a champion, would they?

"With their hands on a title, everything would be different."

After what happened with Figo, i doubt he'd go. I would think AC Milan would be a likely destination, or its is likely he'll just stay with the posiblity of a new manager e.g. Mourinho coming along things can change.

I've heard that Ronaldinho has had a strained relationship with the Barca fans in recent seasons but he'd have to really despise them to move to Real Madrid! As NateR mentioned, Luis Figo made that move and the hatred towards him shown by the Barca fans was immense. Teaming up with his international teammate Kaka is a more realistic option or perhaps Chelsea will have another crack at him.

I've heard City are interested in Dos Santos. I hope they don't make a double bid!

Didnt Figo get a pigs head thrown at him when he switched sides?
It a bit like United players going to Pool and vice-versa.
Even the great Ronaldo did it, but he went to Italy in between.
I hadnt heard what happened to Ronaldihno...
I was at the Nou Camp on Grand Slam Sunday hoping to see him play,
and was disappointed he didnt. people were talking about him in the crowd
but in Spanish so I hadnt a clue what was going on...................
