Fortune poised to join Brescia
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ca/7656631.stm

Former South Africa international Quinton Fortune is on the verge of joining Italian Serie B side Brescia.

The 31-year-old will undergo a medical at the Italian outfit before signing a contract, the club confirmed.

The former Manchester United midfielder has been a free agent since leaving Bolton last year after an unsuccessful stint at the club.

He left Old Trafford for the Reebok Stadium in 2006 after seven years at the club.

After departing Bolton following just six appearances, Fortune had a series of failed trials at Blackburn, Sunderland and Sheffield United.

He will train with Brescia and could sign for the Italian second division side in the next few days, the club said on its website.

Brescia currently lie ninth in Serie B after seven games.

Hleb hoping for Fabregas reunion
http://www.teamtalk.com/football/sto...299280,00.html

Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb admits he has been trying to persuade former Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas to join him at the Nou Camp.

Spain international Fabregas revealed earlier this week that he would one day like to return to Barca, the club he left to join Arsenal in 2003, and for Hleb that day cannot come soon enough.

Hleb moved to Barca this summer after three seasons at the Gunners, and the Belarus ace would be delighted if the highly-coveted Fabregas followed suit.

"We get on very well on and off the pitch. For me he is like a brother. We call each other a lot to talk about things," Hleb said in El Mundo Deportivo.

"He tells me he misses me at Arsenal and, without wanting to detract from anyone, I would love it if he came to Barca to be a part of all this.

"I don't stop insisting that he should return to Barca and he doesn't stop insisting that he is very happy at Arsenal and with Arsene Wenger.

"I will keep boring him until he changes his mind. If in the end he listens to me, I think it would be great for Barcelona."

ZOLA HOPEFUL OF TRISTAN DEAL
http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...299393,00.html

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is confident he can defy the credit crunch to bring Spanish striker Diego Tristan to Upton Park.

Tristan failed to make a mark at Italian club Livorno last season, and the new Hammers' manager insists the club is keen to bring the 32-year-old to east London.

West Ham hitman Dean Ashton will be out until at least the New Year with an ankle injury, but Zola has been told he can only bring in new players if he sells other squad members first, after Hammers' owner Bjogolfor Gudmundsson lost a reported £230m following the collapse of Icelandic bank Landisbank.

Tristan arrived at Upton Park at the end of September, and Zola has extended the former Spanish international talisman's trial to get a closer look at the experienced forward.

Tristan scored 78 goals in 177 games for Depotivo La Coruna from 2000-2006 but scored just once in his 21 appearances for Livorno last season.

Zola said: "Diego's working very hard and we're pleased with him.

"He could be a good alternative. He's got a lot of experience and skills.

"He can do well as long as he gets fit."
