No More New Players For Fiorentina - Corvino http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=764455
Fiorentina manager Pantaleo Corvino has announced that the club will not be signing any more new players.
Until now Fiorentina have easily been the most active club on the Italian transfer market. No less than six new players were acquired by the club for Cesare Prandelli's team, all of whom are potentially first team players.
Having invested 50 million euros on transfers so far, the club will now necessarily focus on which players to sell to make back some of the money.
Sporting director Pantaleo Corvino announced today that Fiorentina will not be buying any more new players and that a number of players will now be sold.
"We have made huge sacrifices, spending almost 50 million euros, making Prandelli happy and assembling a high level squad," he said. "Now we have to think only about selling players to try and get our budget right again."
The Viola's new signings included striker Alberto Gilardino, full back Juan Vargas, former Torino captain Gianluca Comotto, young talent Stevan Jovetiç, and Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo. Lazio's Luciano Zauri is expected to be announced soon as well.

Vargas And Comotto Relishing Viola Adventure http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=764391
Juan Vargas and Gianluca Comotto gave their first declarations as new Fiorentina players.
Fiorentina certainly aren't holding back in the transfer market this year. After already announcing the arrivals of Felipe Melo (from Almería), Stevan Jovetiç (from Partizan Belgrado), and Alberto Gilardino (from Milan), today the Viola presented their two latest signings: Juan Vargas from Catania and Gianluca Comotto from Torino.
Perhaps the latter's presentation was the most surprising, because even though there were rumours of a negotiation going on for a while, few expected that things would be wrapped up so suddenly.
"I thank [Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo] Corvino for allowing my desire to return to Fiorentina come true," said Comotto, who played the first half of the 2003/04 season with the Viola, "he remained close to me also when I was injured. I'm coming back also to show the Fiorentina fans who is the real Comotto. The injury is behind me, in these three months I've worked a lot, I'm in perfect conditions."
Meanwhile, the Peruvian full back said: "I thank Fiorentina for the trust they are showing in me. I'm glad to have arrived in a club as important as this. I'm a full back who goes forward a lot, I've always had a lot of admiration for Roberto Carlos, I hope to be able to reach his level one day."

Vargas, 24, has signed a five-year deal, which will earn him around €1million (£800,000) a season, while 29-year-old Comotto joins on a three-year contract.
The €12million (£9.5million) transfer from Catania will mean Vargas will have to be struck off the transfer target list of a host of European clubs, reportedly including the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, after an impressive season in Serie A.
"I'm happy to arrive here in such an important side like Fiorentina. I can grow a lot here and I want to do this with this side," said Vargas.
Desperate
For Comotto, he is no stranger to Viola after once having a six-month loan spell with the Italian giants.
However, the former Torino defender struggled to make an impact and is desperate to restore the faith of the Andrea Della Valle supporters.
Comotto said: "I had been here before for six months during an unhappy period of my career.
"Now I want to show Fiorentina supporters who is the real Comotto."
