Napoli have agreed a deal to sign Independiente hitman German Denis, and will announce his signing over the next few hours.
The Partenopei are one of the most ambitious teams in Italy, and President Aurelio De Laurentiis has hopes to take the club into the elite regions of Serie A.
The southerners have vowed to make a number of big signings this summer, and have already made their first notable capture by snapping up German Denis from Independiente.
The Argentine hitman, nicknamed ‘The Tank’ has been in prolific form since joining Independiente from Colon in 2006, scoring 44 goals in just 65 games. The 26-year-old, who is renowned for his power, has won two caps for Argentina.
Napoli will pay around €11m for Denis, who will partner compatriot Ezequiel Lavezzi in an exciting looking frontline.
Denis has already had one unsuccessful stint in Italian football back in 2002/03 with Cesena.

Official: Napoli Sign Maggio
Napoli have pulled off a major coup by signing Sampdoria star Christian Maggio for €8m.
Maggio had a superb 2007/08 season for Samp, and was one of the best right full backs in Serie A.
His trademark runs down the flank were a key factor in Samp’s qualification for the UEFA Cup, and he also chipped in with a highly impressive nine goals in 29 games, leading to calls that he should go to Euro 2008.
Three clubs had been strongly linked with signing Maggio this summer; Napoli, Aston Villa and AC Milan, however it is the Partenopei who have won the race to snap him up.
Napoli will pay €8m to Sampdoria, while the 26-year-old Maggio has signed a five year contract worth €800,000 a season.
The Azzurri are also expected to announce the signing of Argentine hitman German Denis from Independiente in the next few hours.
