Gremio wants 20 mil isnt it? the player can do nothing much if the club doesnt accept the bid. and we arent gonna do a real madrid.

according to newspaper reports they are starting to come round to the idea of small sum now with add on that include successes in the future etc.

for 8 million plus add on, id take that for sure.

One thing that is threatening this deal is that we are not prepared to show the cash. If we really wanted him we would show them our hand. But we haven't and now we have competition off clubs who will show their hand and will probably end up taking him away from us.

We won't get him this season, we got Valencia and Obertan so forget about another winger.

he can play upfront and more importantly in attacking midfield mate, hes used more as a attacking midfielder for gremio.

thats a good thing we aint showing them the cash. they want 20 million

that would be stupid. 8 million plus add ons is a sensible deal for unproven player. they will get their fee that they believe his worth through the add ons. imagine if we brought him for 20mill and he turned to be kleberson for 20 million. then we would look like t****. but if we do the 8 million plus add ons and he turns out s*** we wont be as mugged off for it

whats the latest on this deal ? 25 million is a bit steep for an unproven brazilian.

we should try and get him on loan or trial and see how he goes.

They rejected our offer of a trial and they would not probably let us have him on loan. if we could get him on trial then we could at least get a proper look at the lad.But unfortuanatly they want the cash or nothing obviously.

ALEX FERGUSON might pull the plug on a deal for Douglas Costa over concerns about the player's private life.

The Gremio midfielder, 18, was arrested by Brazilian police earlier in the week for driving without a valid licence. He has already been fined by police and has had yet another dressing-down from club officials.

    Lifestyle
It is the latest incident in his controversial career and Manchester United have been made aware of an increasingly long list of off-field problems.

Costa, who does not drink, has already been criticised by his coach for his party lifestyle and is frequently late for training.

Boss Fergie is unwilling to meet the £18million buy-out clause in his contract, which runs until 2013. United have offered just short of £7million

I dont think Fergie would pull the plug for a few off field problems, but that would be a reason not to pay over the odds.

Agent Exclusive: No offer for Douglas Costa from Manchester United 03 August 2009 - 15:14 | Sport.co.uk

Sport.co.uk understands that there is no offer in place from Manchester United to sign Gremio playmaker Douglas Costa. Editor Nigel Brown spoke exclusively to the European representative of the player, Marco Sibillino, who informed us that no offer was on the table. However Sibillino did admit that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has put a recognised scout in Brazil to watch the starlet.

Marco Sibillino, the European representative of Douglas Costa said: "I have no new information. I know they are looking at Douglas, they have highly reputed scout looking at him. I am not closely involved at this moment in time as I am just handling the German side of things at the moment, and it being handled directly between the player and the club. I spoke to the German scout for Manchester United and he did not know anything about an offer or formal bid."

When asked what price Douglas Costa could fetch, Sibillino said: "£35 million. That is a good price. Yes, a good price."
