As a back up striker i'd take him.... We need four strikers, Berbatov, Rooney,Macheda and maybe Owen? i think Wellbeck is the player that would most benefit a loan move to another premiership club, best he'll do at united this year is a carling cup run and a few sub appearances, which i feel wont benefit him to much. although he is still very young and it maybe to early for a loan move!

I can't believe people actually want him on a free.

He offers NOTHING in the build up, he literally just stands there all game. He forces Rooney even more out of position aswell.

Imagine a front pairing of Owen and Berrbatov. We would never be able to get behind the opposition. Arguably the slowest strikeforce in history.

He's a crap player. Even his finishing is in decline.

Not to mention his injury record. He makes Saha look like Action Man.

He also has the smell of Real Madrid and Liverpool all over him.

I would rather we didn't sign a striker and just give Macheda and Welbeck a chance. They would get just as many goals, help in other areas of the pitch and be great for the long term.

Anyone who thinks Owen is unproven is stupid and has not seen him play the previous years before he went to Newcastle. Even at Newcastle he goals per game ratio was good but the thing is Newcastle rushed him back everytime which means he cant play to his full potential. At United he would not get rushed back. Anyone who thinks 160 goals 322 apps at club level is not proven needs there head sorting out. Also to add to that 89 england caps and 40 goals. Owen - Form is temporary, class is permanent.

never said he was unproven cause hes not before his move to newcastle he was fantastic and i would of loved him at united.

but since newcastle hes been nothing done nothing and lost everything he once possessed in his arsenal.
