Ribery hints at United offer
Ribery would welcome United approach
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bayern Munch winger Franck Ribery has admitted that he hopes that Manchester United and Chelsea will make offers for him.
The French international is being tipped to leave the German giants and will decide on his future in the next few months.
Ribery said: “I haven’t signed anything with anybody yet.
“Last season, I had many possibilities with Manchester United, Real, Barcelona or Chelsea.
“I hope I’ll have the same ones plus Bayern next summer. Things can go one way or another.
“I think I’ll know before the end of March. I want my mind to be free to play the World Cup.
“I want to play with the most competitive team as possible, the one that will give me a chance to win as many trophies as possible, whether it is Bayern or another.
“I’ll be 27 in April and my career is at a turning point.”

Like we'd be able to pull off a deal for Ribery.

he'd cost more than twice his real value (20million?), and so a better option would be to go for someone like silva who could cost a lot less this summer due to Valencia's financial problems

He's just hedging his bets and trying to create an auction to bump up his wages/fee...

I would love it if he came to United. Been following his career for a long time and after Ron/Messi he is the best winger in the world. Pace, power, 2 footed, great shot and crossing, determined....the complete player.

I don't want him unless he's cheap - by that I mean less than 20 million. I know I shouldn't think of that as cheap but for a world class winger it is. With his injury history breaking the bank for him would be a monumental risk.

There's no way we can afford him. Bayern will want top dollar as they always do and will only sell him to the highest bidder, Real or Barca most likely. All he said in the article is that he hopes the big clubs will be in for him again, he didn't pinpoint any particular one, just hedging his bets as was said earlier.
Don't get me wrong, I'd freak if we got him but it aint never gonna happen

I've seen Ribery a number of times...mainly for france, and you know what? I cant believe the hype. I'd rather Fergie invested in youngsters rather than spend heavily on someone who may not have the hunger as his wallet is bulging and he doesnt need the win bonus.
I'd spend a very small amount of Pederson at Blackburn. Guy has a lot of talent, but seems to have lost his way. maybe Fergie can get some mileage out of him.

There are much better options available. Isn't he nearly 30 anyway?

Ribery had his chance to join. I did think he would be a fantastic signing but now I not so sure. I think he's a mercenary and wouldn't be right for our club. The duo of David Silva and David Villa would cost the same a Ribery and would be the better choice.

Zidane is an admirer of Ribery, he said that he was one of the best wingers in the world, if not the best. He even recommended that Madrid should sign him before they signed Ronaldo, Ribery's style of play is what Zidane likes to see in a player. I think that he'll sign for either Madrid or Chelsea. Madrid are fairly keen and they do trust Zidane in his advisory role so I wouldn't be surprised if he did sign for Madrid.

For me i'd rather have a player that wants to play for Utd. Ribery seems he just wants to be at a big club for himself because he wants to win things and earn more money. I'd prefer us to sign someone like Silva who is young and promising but sitll could learn a few things from Utd and relish the prospect of becoming a Utd player, rather than one who is overpriced and doesnt really have any dedication to which club he wants to join.

The thing is though, we have to accept now that most players will want to join Madrid and Barcelona over us, as we are simply a lesser team at the moment. Just as most players would prefer to join us over Valencia, for example.
