    Robinho....

Just seen on SSN that Mancini said he can go for £20m...

Worth a punt - or has he shown himself to be a bottle job in the Premier League...?

(wasn't sure if this should go in Banter or not...)

Personally I would say let Robinho go and have a nice time in La Liga. We've seen that his form isn't exceptional in the Premier League, so I'd worry he wouldn't hold down a place in our line-up, grow disinterested, and potentially be a disruption.

I'd pass, and go for somebody less well-known, but hungry to succeed.

In his first season in the prem he was class for most of it. He then had injuries and struggled to really recapture his form. rather than sticking with him, City god rid.

He would be a great signing imo, capable of palyign both wings and in the middle behind rooney.

I would have taken Rob before he went to City, if a player falls out with his club (Real Madrid) once then its worth giving them the benefit of the doubt but after messing up as City too he's far too much of a risk. Plus he's not premier league proven and I think Nani is better. We don't need someone like him anyway, we need a classy attacking mid.

Was that the year before last? Here's the 2009-2010 stats:

    Manchester City Stats 2009-2010

Tevez was top scorer. Robinho got one goal from 8 starts and 4 sub appearances.

I think Robinho's attitude with City was negative from the start, he clearly wanted to join Chelsea or us. If he's available I'd certainly be happy if we tried to get him - but is Manchester where he wants to stay, mind you with United he'd be playing for a big club - and not just a rich one.

Robinho is Skilful, capable to win games all by yourself when he plays by NT.
But in clubs, Robinho's story is different. He's spoiled and easily influenced by his agent, and master of taking wrong decisions. Go to City was one of those decisions.

I think Ferguson could "take care" of him. He'd to a European giants, frequently first team action (i suppose), and nothing would prevent him from becoming the best player in the world, his big dream.

No thanks. I think he's over-rated and a spoilt brat. He's a good player, no more, no less.

No way Robinho is not the player that he was with Madrid i would have took him when he was playing for them but not now.

Robinho seems like another Brazilian who has lost his hunger for the big stage, the list of Brazilians to go this way is huge.

He's always been inconsistent and he showed it once again at City. He is capable of moments of brilliance though and is a player who will get you off your seat. i'd quite like to see him at United and think he would link with Rooney brilliantly, but in our current situation 20 million for a player like Robinho just seems like too much of a gamble.

Hugely gifted player, i cannot believe some people do not see it. He is twice the player nani is at the moment. When he is on form, you get to see how good he is capable of being. However he aint one for the cold weather and the english style of the game does not exactly suit him where there is alot of 4-4-2 formations and the game is more based on physical aspects rather than technical. I would have loved to have seen him come here before he joined city but now im not so sure. I think he is a hugley gifted player but whether he could do it week in week out is another story in a league not suited to him. Ronaldo was playing in a league not suited to him either but with his size/speed and strong built he coped. Robinho struggles abit more because he aint the quickest either.

I am a big robinho fan but whether i think we should go for him now i'm less sure about then i was previous to his city move. Especially with us having nani and valencia who should both be improving.

    pz!

    No no no

He just isn't the type of player we want at United! Plenty of skill...but also plenty of character concerns

Why did you quote me before making your post? Because it really does not make much of a follow up because i said i was not so sure about bringing him here lol but for reasons outside his technical ability and his ability alone as a footballer because he fits the bill in terms of ability as a player.

Speaking of what type of player 'we' want at united...what is it?

I think Binho would be a good (if unrealistic) buy, he can play as a wide player in a 4-5-1 and as a second striker and Fergie would straighten him up.

Sorry, I just quoted you cos your's was the last post I read! hehe lol

Whoever we get they have to be versatile, a team player, have a good work rate, have good character and be of a certain quality standard! Unfortunately in this day and age, there a few players with ALL those things.

Too much of a risk at that price. 20m can get us a good up and coming attacker who is more hungry and driven to be successful, and in a better head space, than Robinho seems to be.
