Skysports.com understands Blackpool are considering a surprise move for former Newcastle star Nicky Butt.
Butt is currently considering his options after leaving Newcastle at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract.
It has been reported the 35-year-old is considering hanging up his boots and moving into coaching, but Blackpool are hoping to lure him to Bloomfield Road.
Ipswich and Preston have both been credited with an interest in the former Manchester United midfielder and now Blackpool are keen to land the ex-England international.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is looking to bolster his squad and he sees Butt's experience as a key addition to his side as they plan for life in the Premier League next term.
Butt is expected to make a decision on his future soon, but he could be tempted to have one last swansong in the Premier League if Blackpool follow up their interest.

Would not be a bad signing from Blackpool someone who has bags of experienced of playing at the top level. He may be going on in years but he would be good to have around the dressing room for Blackpool.
By the way when i 1st say this story on Sky Sports i taught it was Liverpool.
Thought it was Liverpool.
Nice one Marty.
As for Butt, I adore him and I would love to see him back in the Premier league, but is he good enough for Blackpool?
I heard he was pretty poor with Newcastle lately.
Haha, whenever I read the title I thought 'Why on earth would Liverpool want Butt?'

I think this would be a good signing for them. He's got bags of experience, having played in the Champions League and some international football as well as his time in the Premier League, so he'd be a great help off the pitch at least - even if he wasn't to make a big impact on it.
It said that he was considering moving into coaching, so they could always take him on as player/coach in some capacity if they were to need someone.
great lad --wish him the best whatever he does .
He gave his best --and never moaned about his lot .
