I dont think he should be signed yet, we need a couple of midfielders, they are priority at the moment.

This is the one player who keeps coming up in speculation again and again. Even BBC radio today were on about him saying that he would be an excellent buy for any Premiership club. However, if United are interested, then they are keeping it very quiet a la Kenyon getting his dirty nose into the deal.

Torres is no doubt an excellant player. But I doubt he's a 25+ goals a season man like Ruud.

You may well be right, I simply do not know. But, according to the so called experts, he would do "very well". Anyway, even if he were on a 20 goal man, how many will others get like Rooney. Saha and even Rossi if he plays regularly. Not forgetting our (hopefully) goals from midfield.

The only official bid so far is from Newcastle United for 38 million euros, with a further four depending upon performances.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been said to be preparing bids before this summer's World Cup. Chelsea would go as high as Newcastle, but Spurs and Arsenal value the Spanish international, who has repeatedly denied that he is leaving his childhood club, at closer to 30 million. Spurs' failure on Sunday to qualify for next season's Champions League could put such a splurge on hold.
i rekon TORRES will be an excellent asset to the team him and ronney up front will be a great team

He'd be a good signing, however I don't see it happening, I'm afraid.

While he may not be a 25+ goal a season player, he may allow the midfield to score more than when we just hit the ball to Ruud. Quite frankly Ruud limits our play severely.

on the topic of 25+ a year strikers, we've never really had that in the past and it's never debilitated us cos most of our players would wade in with goals throughout the season... even Schmeichal! But in the early nineties and mid nineties we had likes of Hughes, McClair, Cantona and everyone wading in with 15 goals a season or so rather than one scoring them all. Very much like Chelsea at the moment in fact.
