The Eurovision Song Contest, what a load of old tripe

I wasn't sure if this belonged in the Music or TV section but it is a BBC program so I think this is the right place for it.

This program was once a massive musical event, now it is a complete laughing stock. No-one with any credibility in the music industry will go near this competition. The music on show is just rubbish, because no talented musicians take this program seriously and it is left to mickey mouse performers to make up the numbers. OMG the spanish song in this years competition was so bad it has to be seen to be believed.

The reason no serious performers take this program seriously is because the way countries vote has nothing to do with the music. Country's just vote for their neighbours, Portugal vote for Spain, Denmark vote for Norway, Ukraine vote for Russia etc etc. I think the amount the BBC spend on this competition is a waste of tax payers money. Why do the UK still enter this competition when we know that it is impossible for us to ever win it again, surely it is only for old time sake.

I do find this program mildly amusing, the useless music and ridiculous costumes always provide a laugh, but I don't think the BBC can justify the amount of money they spend on it anymore. The best part of the program is usually the outstanding presentation of Terry Wogan, but even he sounded like he'd had enough of it last night. He knows that no-one takes it seriously anymore.

On a side note the UK entry probably deserved to finish bottom this year. I thought the songs of Finland and Iceland were very entertaining, a hard rock band and an upbeat techno song.

It's a political vote, not a son contest, has been for years.
It's impossible for me to stop watching it though, because
I never watched it to begin with

its an absolute joke that we spend millions on this competition when we full well kno we have no chance of winning anymore !

have a look at this picture

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...ild-sudan2.jpg

and you tell me if its worth spending millions on a phoney competition. the kind of competition that we kno we have already lost before voting begins.

this country is becoming more and more a joke by the day.

You've only just noticed what a load of crap this is. Its the biggest joke on Euro tv and yet still people watch it like viewing lemmings!! The eastern states all voted en block for each other, I do not even know what a single song was, but I am dead chuffed the UK finished last. Warra laff BBC; you have wasted our money - again!!!

totally agreed.
Azerbaycan gives us points because of nationality feelings, Turkey give Greece because of diplomatic relations.. Cyrpus and Greece always gives each other and northern countries gives other northern countries for years..

Eurovision isnt real music contest, it is a political delicacy..
