There was a time not so long ago when United fans were rounding on Ryan Giggs for his poor performances. There was a feeling that his legs had gone and he could no longer make it at the top level. How wrong did those fans turn out to be?
This season we've witnessed Giggs reinvent himself as a central midfielder and the results have been impressive to say the least. I must admit I have always been uneasy about Giggs playing through the middle, but this season he's completely proved me wrong with some simply magical performances. He is excelling in his new midfield role and we're benefiting as a team too.
He's created 14 goals for us so far and that is a massive contribution considering we've found goals hard to come by in recent months. It's kept us in a strong position in all competitions and also makes him a contender for player of the season, one award he has unbelievably never won.
There's no doubt that he's coming to the end of his career, that much is obvious. But if he can still perform once a week in the form he is in now then I'll be glad to see his name on the teamsheet. We're lucky to have had such a loyal servant of the club for so many years and it'll be a real shame when he retires, I just hope we can squeeze another couple of years out of him.
