The FIFPro World XI for 2009 was announced and two Manchester United names have made the cut this time around. Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra, both bought in the January window in 2006, have been hugely influential in the success of United over the past three seasons and its no surprise to see them selected in this star studed eleven. The pair may not have been in the familiar back line of United's too much this season so far, but they've excelled in the defence and worthy of the award.
Two other notable points include Cristaino Ronaldo's inclusion in the team, unsurprisingly, along with his rival, Lionel Messi who also scooped the World Player Of The Year Award. It should be noted that Ronaldo's place is based on his performances for Manchester United last season.
He also grabbed hold of the FIFA Puskas award for the best goal scored in the 2008-2009 season, his long range screamer in Portugal against Porto in the Champions League quarter final being the one selected. He may not be a Red Devil any more, but a congratulations is appropriate. See the nominations for the FIFA Puskas award below,
On a stranger side, Chelsea's John Terry claimed a fifth successive placement at center back in the team, much to many football fans confusion. Does he really deserve to be in the best eleven in the world, five years running? It just doesn't add up.
