Wandering with the Wanderers

By Owenzy on Sep 9, 2011 - Twitter:@manutdtalk

Over the past two weeks I've been asking Bolton Wanderers fans a few questions in the lead up to our away game at The Reebok Stadium. Bolton Wanderers Forum The-Wanderer.co.uk was my forum of choice. Those who replied to the questions were quite honest, which gave an intertesting insight into how Bolton Wanderers feel about our club, the upcoming game and their own club. I thank those who took time to answer the questions, it is much appreciated. Let's hope for an entertaining game on Saturday, for both sets of fans.

Here are the questions I asked, and a selection of their replies:

1. What do you think would be a good season for United? And where do you think we will finish in the league?

A good season but Uniteds standards should be winning the league but I don't think you will.... De Gea will struggle IMO when it comes to the big tests of Chelsea, City etc i'm going to say you'll finish 3rd.

You've set the bar high, I suppose anything less than a Champs League win and you'll be disappointed. You'll win the Prem easily I suspect.

Finish 1st, but hopefully Man City or Liverpool can somehow win.
Like it has been said earlier: They need a new Champions league trophy.

2. What do you think would be a good season for Bolton Wanderers? And where do you think you will finish in the league?

Top 10, and Top 10.

Not getting relegated has been a good season ever since Sammy Lee took charge with Owen once he relieases that by playing the same that put 4 past QPR won't be good enough for the likes of liverpool and city we should be looking 12th or higher.

Good runs in the cups and a top ten finish and beating you lot twice and the Arse would be like wining the lottery

3. Who is your one player to watch?

I think Eagles might come into his own as the season goes on, and Mark Davies if he gets more playing time.

Klasnic. In the box. With the ball at his feet.

If you're Patrice Evra, probably Kevin Davies

4. Who is your best signing of the summer?

Thus far Nigel Reo Coker, the guy looks good from what I've seen, superb business on a free.

Not sure we've made our best signing of the summer yet. Still rather hoping for a striker. Tuncay from those we have signed is probably the pick of the bunch with Nigel Reo-Coker somewhere in second.

I suspect (& hope) Tuncay

5. Which United player do you fear the most?

Rooney or Ashley Young

Hernandez. With the right supply he could get a hat trick against our defence

Used to be Scholes and Giggs but Looney will do

6. Which of your players has something to prove this season?

Klasnic and Petrov. Klasnic has finally got a pre-season behind him and I can see him getting well into double figures goal wise this season. Petrov was shite last year, and needs to prove he is worth the wage he is undoubtedly on

The lot of them.

Petrov and Jussi

7. Your prediction for the top 6 this season? Your prediction for the bottom three this season?

top 6:
Chelsea (Really think that they're going to be alot like United last season when they scrap out victories and quietly go about the games)
City
United
Liverpool
Spurs
Arsenal

Bottom 3
Blackburn
West Brom
Norwich

Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs (top 6)
Blackburn, Swansea, QPR (bottom 3)

Top six; You, Citeh, Chelski, Liverpool, Tottingham and then a surprise team... I think Arsene's sweets have gone sour and they'll finish mid table this year.

Bottom; QPR, Swansea and Jackburn

8. Your favourite United player of all time? Your favourite Bolton Wanderers player of all time?

Tony Dunne. Peter Thompson

My brother always says there'll never be a better player than Duncan Edwards for United. For me, gentleman Bob Charlton, Law and Cantona. For us, Nat Lofthouse hands down.

George best, Eric Canto & Frankie "the fonz" worthington

9. If you could take one of our players for your team, who would it be?

Rooney. Easy.

Vidic... world class defender IMO

I'd prefer Fergie to be honest

10. Is Owen Coyle the right man for the job?

Jury out for me. Good at trying to attack, needs to balance between attack and defence, especially away from home. This season will probably tell us if he's the right man for the job, given our first few fixtures, and he's now signed quite a few players. Either way, his football is easier on the eye than the previous incumbent

Yes, of course

Yes, not happy he kinda dogged Burnley though

11. How highly do you rate Gary Cahill? Do you think he'll stay or go?

He's not as incredible as the papers say, but he's very very good. 3rd or 4th best English defender. I think he'll stay.

He'll look great in a good side. He wont be with us beyond the next transfer window

The most over-rated footballer in England

12. Your score prediction for the upcoming game?

It could be a cricket score the way you've started, but I'll go for the annual 4-0 drubbing.

3-3.

A hopeful draw and maybe a shock
