Ben Amos joined the Academy at 11, after being released by Crewe Alexandria. In a quirk of fate, Amos had been playing in midfield for another local team, Bollington United, and had deputised for their keeper when he was sent off during a match. A watching Man Utd scout then invited Amos for trials at the club.

Amos impressed at youth level, breaking into the U18 squad at 15, and became a mainstay between the posts. In 2009 he was sent on loan to gain valuable experience, first at Peterborough and then at Molde, before becoming third-choice goalkeeper back at Utd for the 2010/11 season, where he made appearences in both the League Cup and Champions League.

The arrival of Anders Lindegaard in January 2011 allowed another loan opportunity, this time at Oldham, before an injury to Lindegaard forced a recall to Utd. The 2011/12 season saw him continue his run in the League Cup, and his Premier League debut.

Amos has also represented England at every youth level from U16 up.
