    Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Brazilian wonder kid*Adryan Oliveira Tavares, according to reports from South America.

    United have sent officials to again watch Flamengo’s 17-year-old attacking midfielder according to O Globo, who claim Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to bring to Old Trafford during the summer.

    La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked with Adryan, dubbed the ‘new Romario’ and both clubs are said to have had officials at last years under-17 Fifa World Cup where Adryan starred during Brazil’s run to a fourth place finish.

    It was during this tournament that United first travelled to South American to monitor the player.

    United face stiff competition for the £2 million-rated youngster’s signature but it is believed the English side could be in the driving seat thanks to the progress Rafael and Fabio da Silva have made since arriving at Old Trafford from Flamengo’s rivals Fuminense in January 2008.

    I be really delighted if we snap him up. Was very impressed with him when I watched the U-17 Fifa World Cup and he was one of my standout players alongside Souleymane from the Ivory Coast and Marvin Martin from France. Interesting how we are stockpiling on all these Brazilians....

    Lol That's the only reason I took notice of this thread because he has one of the biggest potentials in FIFA . He can go from 67 to 85 in potential. If he's as good in FIFA as in real life then we should snap him up lol . Is his team where we got the silva twins from ?

    Flamengo starlet Adryan has confirmed that he shunned interest from Manchester United before signing his new deal last year.

    The midfielder is one of Brazil's top prospects and is a regular for the Samba nation at youth level.

    The Red Devils are already well aware of Adryan and they opened talks with Flamengo last year.

    However, instead of moving to Europe the 17-year-old penned a new deal in his homeland, and he has now confirmed that he did rebuff interest from Old Trafford.

    "Man United did talk to me and showed interest," he told Globo Esporte.

    "But I was not interested in moving at that point. Let's see if something adequate comes up in the future."

    Asked about moving to Europe, Adryan - who has been likened to Brazilian legend Zico - insists he is not in any hurry to cross the Atlantic.

    "I don't think about going to Europe so quickly, things need to be done step by step," he added.
