I thought they were up to their necks in it but according to the media, they are in for another summer of huge spending. I asked this question on another forum but no-one was really sure.
all i know is that 'debt' doesnt really have the same meaning for real as it does for other clubs... this is a great article by sid lowe from the guardian, and sid does know his la liga... Domination by Barcelona and Real Madrid making Spain the new Scotland | Sid Lowe | Football | The Observer
at real the banks and government back them and waive debts that would kill any other club , in reality their the most in debt club on the planet but are constantly bailed out.
I read of numbers being thrown about that Real Madrid were around £800 million in debt & if they are getting paid off by the Government or large banks it hardly seems fair to every other team in La Liga.
That's the way it works in Spain though, backhanders everywhere, it's probably now the most corrupt government/country in Europe. The way Real is run is a joke, it is completely unfair on every other team in the world, let alone in Spain. Dodgy land deals, non payable loans, interest free loans and cash injections from the Gvt/Banks, it shouldn't be allowed, full stop
in that article i posted it states that barca are in 350m euro's of debt... but you never ever ever hear that mentioned in relation to europes most devine and pure club!
and platini and blatter will never do a thing... at least in england our borrowing is 'traditional borrowing' as in 'traditional loans' and 'traditional financial agreements'... and it is all visible on accounts.
the simple answer to the question is that, yes, they are in debt, but the debt they have accrued is mostly in interest-free loans with no fixed repayments. the specifics are a little more complicated, but as carlo mentioned there's a plethora of dodgy dealings
There's nothing dodgy about Real Madrid's debt. They're a non-profit organisation and are loaned money by some similarly non-profit banks, which equates to low interest rates which can be restructured with relative ease.
Oh and as for Spain's corruption, Portugal, Italy, Albania, Serbia and Poland are much more corrupt, to name a few.
Am i not right in saying the royal family of spain have something to do with real madrid aswell thats why they allways get bailed out of the 100's of millions of debt they rack up?
cheers brother.. But for anyone that cant be bothered to read it all: Real - 683m euro's in debt Barca - 350m euro's in debt Spanish football - 3.5bn euro's in debt Unpaid wages in spanish football stands at 100m euro's
