Bale For Young Swap Deal Anyone?

Even a United fan can't argue that Ashley Young had a terrible tournament. I think this will have a lasting effect on his confidence and I can see him struggling for us in the season ahead. This is totally speculation but I would be up for swapping Bale for him plus some cash. Disappointed.

I was so surprised by the way he played in the tournament, considering the form he was in going into it. Of course I would love a Bale-Young swap deal.

He had a bad tournament but that doesn't make him a bad player. And no, I don't want Bale. If we were to sign Bale it'd be a travesty considering the talent we do have on the wings and the fact that it'd mean we wouldn't sign another central midfielder which we desperately need a lot more.

Young had a bad tournament? Who gives a shit. Young was part of an awful England team who couldn't string more than 2 passes together.

Selling a player on the basis of a poor tournament, with a side unable to keep possession would be too trigger-happy. Despite my initial opposition to his signing (I didn't think he was a necessary purchase at the time), I actually think he had a good debut season with us, and actually scored a few very important goals (goals that could have meant the title had we not fluffed it in the end). The idea of swapping Young for Bale is crazy, because there is no way Spurs will accept such a deal, and I don't think Sir Alex will want to do so in the first place, since he is a big admirer of Young. I couldn't care less how a United player performed at an international tournament to be honest, as long as his performances at club level are up to standard. In a slightly different way to Becks, this is similar to how he came back after World Cup 1998 - vilified for not his performances, but for his lashing out at Simeone. I'm sure Young, both for his performances, and also to some extent because he is a Manchester United player will face some stick from opposing fans when he gets back. Becks did well, and was an extremely important player for the greatest season in the club's history after he returned - I wonder if Young can kick-on and do something similar.

Maybe they'll give us Modric for Darren Fletcher too.
