depends on who we sign, who stays and goes from our current squad, and or the discovery of an awesome pic of one of our players or former players.

Of course I'll have to go through the 7 stages of grief about his departure, then I'll have to set about selecting a new favourite player, as it may not be a simple case of promoting 2nd to first...

Needs a break? He was brilliant today and very good against Wigan when he came on. Welbeck is under no real pressure. I think most people though that he'd score between 10-15 goals, which he is on course to do. He's about more than just goals. I think his general plays is the best of any striker in the squad, including Rooney. His movement, work rate, and link up play are top class the majority of the time. All he needs to do is become a bit more clinical in front of goal, which he will. That'll come with experience and more game time. He has been one of our most consistent players this season. A real bonus this season.

Berbatov is too static, lazy and lacking in drive to play in midfield. He's good at retaining possession but that's it. That's all that he could offer from midfield, in my opinion. He's not going to start spraying passes around like Scholes, Giggs or Carrick. He's more about playing intelligent short passes into feet and bringing others into play in the final third.

We don't need Giggs to do anything, really. We have Scholes and Carrick in top form, as well as Cleverley playing well and looking much sharper in his recent cameo appearances.

I don't like playing players out of position. I'd rather play Pogba or Petrucci than force players into unfamiliar territory.

Nah, we'll just probably move it into either Football Banter or Foreign Leagues so that certain members still have a place to post away to their heart's content (y)

We have a rather odd attitude, if you're technically very good and get most of what you do right but dont run around like your life depends on it we think you are lazy and no good. If you run around like an electric rat, get thirty chances and score one, even the posession you give away is forgiven

I well remember the Fergie sign him up chants and the queues of fans saying keep him and let Berba go, despite the fact that Berba scored more than Tevez that season

Berbatov keeps the ball well but very rarely does anything adventurous with it. He has a gift but very rarely uses it. He was much more creative and adventurous at Spurs. Now, the majority of the time he just traps a pass and plays a simple 10 yard pass. Welbeck is adventurous, he keeps the ball well the majority of the time and he works hard. He's the complete package. You have to have it all to be a real success at this club. Working hard for the team is the minimum that should be asked of any player. Messi is the best player in the world but works harder than 90% of players. Technical ability mixed with work rate and determination = win.

oh please dear god don't go there spock.....

there's a thread somewhere on it - search "berbatov tevez" - there's 2 or more threads actually..... and one other former member's postings in there probably reduced my lifespan by 10 years - now I just like to enjoy this thread.... the vid in my OP is forever burned in my mind with the song - I can't see one / hear one, without seeing/hearing the other

re: work - he has worked hard on numerous occasions for the club - he didn't at first, but last season in particular, and in his appearances before he was told he wasn't in fergie's plans this season, he worked hard too....

re: adventure - it's all confidence. You think it's all down to him being mentally fragile - and while I agree it's a big part, I think Fergie could have done more to help that.... look at the stuff he does and tries when the confidence is flowing - that bicey kick v liverpool wouldn't have even been attempted in a lot of periods of time he's been here... for all his good times, whatever you think of his mental fragility - even when he was at his best here, lighting up the back pages and scoring charts - every single time there was a substitution being made, he was looking over his shoulder in fear of being taken off....

Anyway - even though it's disappointing he could have been so much more for us than he was, what I find even more disappointing is how underrated the contribution he has made to the club is.

This forum will miss Berbatov. Possibly the most debated player in MUT history.

I can't wait for this thread to be moved. Finally, it'll be all over. I'll never really have to hear hd, orko, Flash, etc ever again with regards to this topic. He can do well elsewhere, and I'm sure they'll continue to discuss him in the football banter section. But he'll be no longer be apart of my club and I will no longer care about discussing him. It's been a long debate but I have massacred all before me and emerged victorious. I'm actually saddened in a way. There was a time when I thought he was going to prove me wrong. After that hat-trick, I thought it would be the beginning for him. But funnily enough, that was the end for him in a way. He went 12 games without scoring after that and soon found himself out of the team by late January.

One things for sure, the grandchildren won't be hearing about Dimitar Berbatov. And if they ever ask what he was like, I'll kindly tell them not to open that can of worms.

february he was out of the team, scored numerous important goals and contributed well (e.g stoke chich winner, and assist for scholesy v fulham) during the baron spell.... not to mention all the important goals after that spell.... and then after losing his place he still scored 2 crucial goals after tha....

not opening the can of worms?

fool of the took.... I look forward to my grandchildren hearing about how he was the biggest contributor points wise to the title that toppled the scousers.... I may bore them to death by talking too much about him though - because apparently to you normal people, talking too much about Berbatov is boring?
