Owenzy's kid: "Dad, you ever see that Bulgarian guy score that overhead against Liverpool? What a goal! What a player!"

Owenzy to Police Officer hours later: " I swear, he fell down the stairs"

I can't wait until its over, I've always thought we made a mistake signing Berba because he didn't suit our style. The thing that gets me is we played him through the bad times but when he finally got an understanding with the rest of the team we dropped him?

I respect Berba, he picked us over the bitters money, he's loyal, he's professional and he even increased his work rate for us. He'll be an excellent signing for someone, I hope he goes to Spain or Italy.

Berberotica done by Wellers. Hoping to see Berba involved in the future games. My gut feeling says that he'll come up with a crucial goal against City.

Interesting to see the hoardes wanting berba to get a start in recent weeks how fickle some are out there he has never been the answer to our great club touches of brilliance here and there dont cut it with me and ill tell you this also welbeck needs to get his act together can anyone really see him being a united top top top striker like Andy or Dwight or Hughes yer he is young but Shearer was the finished article at 19!!

there's something wrong with you then "touches of brlliance here and there" won us the league last season - and Welbeck has had a very good season and is now deservedly a starter, despite a less impressive few weeks recently - he's like a pacier version of Berba - not quite as good in some technical aspects but his movement and pace more than makes up for it.

Though of course.... if you weren't fond of Berba, even a faster version wouldn't make you happy.

hd point taken but even you can admit he scored the majority of his 20 odd goals in a spate of 6 matches where he scored a 5 and 2 hat tricks as for wellers needs 5 chances to score 1 united need a proven goalscorer and quick that means we need to buy in the summer and use wellers in Carling cup and and fa cup look at shitty as much as i despise them bought big like sergio and reaping the rewards

I can "admit" it... yes - but you say that as if it's a bad thing when all of his other goals and assists meant that he won us more points than any other player did for their team - so no matter what your perception may be of his contribution.... look beyond that at the facts.... the empirical evidence shows that it's what won us the league..... Not to mention how many of those goals he scored in those games that were vitall - e.g all the goals v liverpool were needed, at least 1 if not 2 of his goals were needed v Blackburn to seal the win (very least 1) - the opener v Birmingham was needed.... then there's things like his goal v Brum away, his game winning brace v blackpool away.....

Your perception affects your judgement - you look and see most of his goals coming in a few games, I look at how many points he won us, and then when I think about it and look at the importance of many of those goals, and his other goals that weren't hat-tricks and 5's, it makes sense.

He doesn't need 5 chances to score 1, he's been unlucky - yes his finishing needs a fair bit of work, but it'll improve, he's getting into the right ares and his link up play is fantastic.

He might get ten minutes as a sub against Sunderland if the title race is over. . . If he's lucky.

He'd need to actually get on the pitch to do that, and I bet my left nut that doesn't happen.

as always hd you make sensible arguements unlike some but i still think of 2010 and his contribution SAF kept faith in him and he had a chance to repay that at blackburn away we all know what happened that day i understand you opened this thread and will stick up for him but its time for him to move on i dont have the stats to hand but i wonder where he stands in chances to scored ratio

Even that game.... that was 1 game? what about the 37 others eh? oh no we lost it in that 1 specific game...

Even if that were true, and that game did cost us, he made the best chance of the game himself - by putting valencia through 1 on 1 - but Toni.V didn't convert - yet you don't see people going "f**king Valencia!" when that game is mentioned....

I agree it's time to move on (I want him to go in the summer)- I just feel he doesn't get enough credit for what he did contribute - and as much as I'm disappointed he never lived up to his true potential here (he could have been much much more) - it's even more disappointing to see him not get due credit - especially given his exemplary behaviour throughout his time here.

All the stats I've seen of those (none to hand) he's one of our better strikers in the last 4 years for it, but the stat I referred to earlier was how many points his goals and assists got us

hd maybe its his languid style the fact the stretty groan when he doesnt attempt to track back puts him on the back foot yes agreed he has contributed i cant deny that but i will maintain that our record signing should have been a world beater and unfortunately he has not remember this mate we spent 30 million on him thats big money and fans should expect much more you know that

Disappointment at not being what he could have been, should not cloud judgement of what he did contribute - neither should your perception of him due to work ethic.

How many people said he was our player of the season last season? I wonder how many utd players voted him players player of the season...

Was he even on the shortlist for the premier league one? despite being the player that won his team more points than any other for any team in the league? nope.

He only got in the team of the year because he was joint top scorer.

Great to see him back on the field. Let's just hope he can get a goal somewhere so he can go out in style.

A winner against City would be my preferred goodbye present.

why should they have voted s.o. who was basically out of the starting 11 since February (last season)? It wasnt a complete season. Of course he was forgotten then in the votings end of the season.

He had 19 goals already then....but how many would he have finished with still being first choice. When he had this 20 almost Fergie was saying he could have 30 easily.....

From ESPN Stats... I agree he has had mixed fortunes.

His first season saw him pick up a Premier League winners medal, but despite his 9 goals and 10 assists, he attracted criticism for his ''lazy'' style of play. The departure of Cristiano Ronado and Carlos Tevez in the summer of 2009 should have seen Berbatov become the focal point of the United attack alongside Wayne Rooney. But again he flattered to deceive, eventually losing his place in Ferguson's starting XI as the United boss settled on a 4-5-1 formation with Rooney spearheading the forward line.
2010-11 brought a season of mixed fortunes as Berbatov was the Premier League's joint-top scorer with 20 goals - including a memorable hat-trick against Liverpool and a five-goal haul against Blackburn - but was displaced as Rooney's first-choice partner halfway through the season by Mexican hotshot Javier Hernandez, culminating in an embarrassing omission from the Champions League final squad at Wembley.

You have to wonder why we are getting rid of someone of his class. You can say its change of tactics or maybe something happened behind the scenes. I very much doubt both those scenario's to be honest.

Firstly, I don't think its in Berbatov's nature to make a fuss. We've seen through interviews he's an honest guy and even the way he has been treated right now, he hasn't moaned at all really.

I reckon losing Berbatov allows us to buy someone else in terms of the wage structure. Maybe I'm wrong but just an incline.
