I think its a mixture of changing tactics/formations (with only 1 striker mainly) and sell to have him off the wage list and buy a new player for the money we get for him. That was the plan already last summer but he didnt want to leave then. Go through the complete squad list and ask yourself what players are quality and could bring in some more money. Rooney / Nani are or best players but too important for us, selling them is out of question. Same with the other first team regulars. Berba and Ando come into my mind, Berba 8 Mio + Ando (injury prone but when fit Quality) 15 Mio. Maybe it wasnt even Fergie who wants to get rid rid of him. Maybe it was simply the Glazers telling Fergie he´ll get new players - when also others are going! Players like Gibson, O´Shea, Brown were peanuts. Park would also leave for a ridiculess low fee. Berba leaving....around 8 Mio plus 5 Mio wages.

What I do not believe is that age argument Fergie used in that PK when he said Berba could leave because he wants to play more. Doesnt convince me when I see two almost 40 players in the starting line-up.

even without berbatov playing i dont think the pace of our game has improved much. By time weve got into the opponents penalty box they still have ten men behind the ball

Just to make things clear.I got kicked in the knee 3 days ago.Try to train with the team,but steel a bit painful and sore.We decided not to be involved tomorrow.So please,no speculation.Good luck to the boys tomorrow,and enjoy the game.

he wants to go anyway - there'll be plenty of suitors - how many berbatov finds suitable is another matter, but he won't be here come september first.

The last 2 months (at latest) have surely convinced him that its the best to go. But I wouldnt use the word "wants" for it. He would love to stay if he could. Last season he was talking about finishing his career at United.
