he wouldn't want QPR, so it's probably a case of "well he's not going to want to sign for us" so they don't/didn't bother...

I am just wondering why dont we just keep him stay for at least one year, he still needed even just for 2nd choice..
if the problem is his wage too high, just make lower and make a new deal

    May have been his wages...

    http://www.clubcall.com/manchester-united/berbatov-in-new-spanish-link-1450398.html

Dimitar Berbatov has been linked with a move to Real Sociedad but his £3million-a-year wage demands are putting off a lot of clubs.

The Spanish club are the latest to be offered Berbatov who is being selective in his choice of move, having previously stated that he does not want to pull on the shirt of another club in England or play in a less important league.

The 31-year-old Bulgarian striker knows his time at Old Trafford is up but seems to be unwilling to drop his wage demands too far.

Reports in Turkey, where he is wanted by Galatasaray, Fernerbahce and Trabzonspor, claim his agent is demanding personal terms of 3.5million euros annually.

The chances of Real Sociedad, who finished 12th in the Spanish top flight last season, finding £60,000-a-week for Berbatov look slim.

The Basque club signed Carlos Vela from Arsenal for under £4million last month - paying their first transfer fee for a player in almost two years.

Berbatov, who has scored 237 goals in 517 career matches and was top scorer in the Premier League the season before last, is available for as little as £5million.

£3 million wages is less than 60k a week. For someone of his ability, who would only cost 5 million in transfer fee, I don't see how it's a stumbling block.

Problem he's got is most top teams play with 1 striker and a lot of people still see Berba as being a second striker. Granted he scored a lot of goals for us as the lead striker in 10/11 but his overall performances were a bit rubbish - he hardly got involved in any of the play and was always isolated other than when he had a lot of support.

If he had played in the 90's when everybody was playing 4-4-2 and there was space in front of defences, he would have been one of the most in-demand players in the world.

Still not sold. 20 days left. Something must be going on though, otherwise why would we still pursue Van Persie?

It be pretty much ideal for everyone to include him in the deal for RVP.

He would slot in at Arsenal perfectly. Although with a combination of loyalty to United and his past at Spurs - would he go?

A makeweight in the RVP deal would be the ideal solution.

this will now force him to take the first offer that comes in. Not to Arsenal I hope.

Why not? Good amount of playing time. Good city to live in, CL football. Won't get many better offers.
