You can though, and football managers have to all the time. 'Do we sign the kid from France or Brazil?' they have to find comparatives.

'Should we buy Ronaldo, should we buy Messi, or both of them?' we're not Real or any other cash spitting club. The normal clubs buy who they need. They compare, but not skill. They compare which one's cheaper, who is more likely to come, the language factor, the environment, his character etc... You cannot say Neymar is better than Hazard for e.g., but you can say Hazard is more likely to come than Neymar.

Messi and Ronaldo play two different positions yet we all know Messi is the better player. It really isn't that hard in all honesty.

there both forward players if any one found that hard then there is some think wrong where as am/cm where ever he plays is a lot different to a forward so comparing the two is stupid and pointless

Fast, young, skillful, great vision, great passing, decent long shots. What's wrong with this guy?

Messi is bette than Iniesta. Yet both play different postions. Surely you can see that comparisons are made all the time with players who play different postions.

Not that I disagree with you, but it is interesting to think about this question. Would Iniesta be worse without Messi and would Messi be as good without Iniesta?
Think about it a little it is a hard one to answer.

Anyway, this thread is about Eriksen. I don't think he will join United, but if he did then I sure he would do fine. He is a great passer and his speed with the ball at his feet is deceptively fast. He sometimes outruns players in Holland with the ball at his feet, an aspect of his game that is often overlooked. Eriksen's finishing is something that needs to improve though, he simply doesn't hit the target enough.

I would actually say, that he doesn't shoot enough, as he has a good shot with both legs. The only thing he may lack is height in set pieces, but he is a master at taking them anyway so it's not a problem in attack.

no i still ddont see how you can compare the two players would you say scholes is better than rooney? its the same thing how ever with Iniesta/xavi i think the combo helps messi a lot more than people think whick may explan why he is not as good for country then he is for club,i dont understand how any1 can try to compare a player with someone that plays in a different position

Messi is better than Iniesta and I am a huge Inesta fan. The bigger question is would barcelona be worse off without Messi or iniesta and things become much more clear.

Anyway I agree in terms of background and culture/upbringing etc and if he has the talent he would do fine at united. Whether he would truly flourish like an outstanding world class player I have my questions from the little I have seen of him but he is young and can develop. And like someone else said, he is raised in holland, has that ajax upbrining so he'll be technically fine and that can only bode well for him. I would have no complaints about him being at united but I would take the likes of Neymar over him each and everytime. Not that I for a second think we have a chance of getting neymar lol.

some rumors also in an Ajax forum that were in talks with him....
the "we waited until the Euros are over...." comments would make some sense if true.

Why though? Doesn't he play in the same position as Kagawa?

We don't need him, to be honest I don't really get the hype either.

Yes, he would'nt be a good central midfielder imo. He is better as the no. 10 and we have just signed Kagawa to that place, so I don't think he will come.

Wondered what happened to the speculation surrounding him, when we played against Ajax he was billed as our potential new savour.

Anyway unlike some of the current speculation this signing makes a fair amount of sense. Not that i think it will happen but i'd be chuffed if it did.
