I dont get this myth about Ronaldo being a better passer than Messi. Messi is far better in that area IMO.
Ronaldo is a better finisher without doubt because he scores all kinds of goals and I know I keep saying that but it is true. You force Ronaldo on to his left foot and he will score, you force him on his right and he will score and if you stop him in those area's he can head it. Messi is not great in the air and has no right foot although his left foot is as good as Maradona's to be fair. Ronaldo is quicker with the ball although both are quick and apparently 2 of the quickest players EVER with the ball at their feet. Ronaldo makes more runs in behind defences by using his pace and if he gets up to speed then nobody can catch him. Ronaldo's goals are more varied because he can score tap ins, solo goals, free kicks and long range efforts. Messi performed last night without doubt but Real never got going so it was always going to be a long night for Ronaldo.
I am so sick of morons like yourself coming up with this "Its all thanks to Xavi and Iniesta" ********. So what. Ronaldo had Tevez, Rooney, Giggs, Scholes etc. Hardly **** players if you ask me. Yes he scored a vast amount of goals, but it was mainly because everybody else worked for him, Saf sacrificed Rooney in order to make things for Ronaldo easier, Xavi and Iniesta make things easier for Messi in their own way. You take out Messi from Barcelona and they are not the same ******* team. I'll give you the use of both feet, but claiming that Messi is inferior in the rest of the categories you've just mentioned is not even worth commenting on really, I mean you are seriously claiming that Ronaldo is a better passer than Messi? laughable.
Also, Who gives a **** if he was outshone by Ronaldinho, Messi was barely starting out at that point, Van Nistelrooy outshined Ronaldo during his first couple of years at the club, even Rooney to some extent, yet that means absolutely nothing. Easily one of the stupidest things Ive ever heard.
Ronaldo has the ability to pass the ball as well as anybody but he just doesn't do it enough. He can run at defenders and thread a ball through defenders but he doesn't do it enough. He creates a lot of goals though but no he isn't as good a passer as Messi. Messi sees pictures on the pitch and sees passes that other players don't. So Messi definitely wins that category. Ronaldo is the better shooter from all distances and all angles. Ronaldo has 2 feet whereas Messi is all about his left but then again it is the most magical left foot ever perhaps? And if your left foot is that good then why use your right lol. No manager would turn either player down so it comes down to personal preference.

I don't think I've seen Messi missing a penalty, while Ronnie have missed few penalties and important ones too.
Sorry mate I an not agree with you on this one. I think Ronaldo is the better player but in every area which is what you have pretty much put? Ronaldo is better at heading so yes edges that, dribbling Messi is better which you have put. Pace is pretty even with the ball to be fair. And in fact Ronaldo looks faster than he is because of the way he runs and his height so that is even. Maybe Ronaldo shades it because of his pace off of the ball. Shooting ummm even? Finishing is Ronaldo but shooting is pretty even, Ronaldo is the better goalscorer and hits the ball with real power but Messi is more accurate. Free Kicks yes Ronaldo appears better but does Messi take may free kicks for Barca? Penalties as well? Although for me Ronaldo is top drawer at penalties. Strength is Ronaldo although for his size Messi is extremely strong, desire is even. Both want to be the best players in the world (despite what people say about Messi not caring as much) and both want to win everything in sight. Passing is Messi and Ronaldo crosses more because of the way Real play. Barca don't tend to cross the ball as much from wide areas.
Messi is a better passer of the ball without question. Anyone failing to see this I worry about. Even in stats this term, if you see how ronaldo and messi have performed, in terms of games, shots, assists, passes, balls lost etc, messi is still closer to perfection than ronaldo is. As for ronaldinho outshining messi when they were at barca, ronaldinho was in his prime and messi was still a kid, the comparison is ridiculous (and just shows how good messi was as a kid too) and the reason ronaldinho left, messi was a huge reason for as he was starting to become the player he now is. Ronaldo is amazing and is definately in terms of an individual footballer right up there with messi but messi is definately slightly better naturally and technically...he has age on his side too. Ronaldo will be 26 in feb. Messi will still be 23...it just shows how fast he has developed and how natural a player he is to be this good already. As for xavi and iniesta...they are right up their too, xavi is a complete player, fully developed, has experience, knowledge etc...everything and iniesta is a rare style of midfield and a joy to watch. pz!

young argentina sides and ronaldo didn't excactly carry a single team on his back...at least not successful - he didncarry real last season, but even then higuain helped A LOT for theior not so successful season i confess that ronaldo is an overall better player, he's more complete and i would have him ahead of messi ( i think) but the way some of you are making messi look average is wrong
Messi didn't see much of the ball in the first half(apart from a fantastic chip attempt), but in the second half when Barcelona started COMPLETELY dominating the play, Messi exploded, he was untouchable, especially when the madrid players wanted the match to end asap. Messi has it so easy to outshine everyone, he is in the perfect team. As for Ronaldo, well he didn't recieve a single good pass, ppl will critize him for being awful, but he would of been as good as Messi that night if he had been a Barca player..
More or less spot on OG. I'd increase Messi's score in crossing and free kicks though. He is more than capable. Great post on the previous page as well. Messi is just a freak of nature and his dribbling skills and composure make him THE best in the world. The game was unbelievable. Barca just pissed all over Madrid. It was simply stunning. also, I'm surprised at how many have gone for Ronaldo, even though this is a United forum.

Ronaldo wins most on most of the criteria, but you could argue that the most important elements are composure, dribbling and passing. Messi is more clinical also. He's just the better player!
can someone explain the irish-messi/barca connection to me please? is it just because they're all glory hunters or is there something in their history that i don't know about...
there's absolutely no argument good enough that will persuade anyone to think that ronaldo/messi is better than messi/ronaldo...because they're on the same level and i've said this many times - ronaldo is more complete but messi is just soo fucking good at what he does that it's enough to make him that great
