Actually, away to Barca in the 08 CL we did EXACTLY that and ended up winning it all. Was that a fecking disgrace? We need to do what we did in every important game during that run - be air-tight on defence and attack on the counter.

We have been very weak defensively against good teams - we have to do something in CMF to to help out the back four or we'll get killed. We can win this game with the right approach.

There are too many holes in our defence, too little discipline and too often defenders are caught out of position. Im not advocating or saying we shouldnt park the bus, It might not be the United way, but when youre light in midfield and defence it can help. At the derby we lost not because Chiteh were so good, but because we tried to throw everything at them instead of defending the line. I would advocate, and have advocated using Jones as a sweeper between midfield and defence, he can then add to the numbers in midfield, reinforce the defence and help when atttacking

City haven't got the bottle for it, they've proved that, our experience in the big games will show on monday, they will get smashed, think first half of the FA cup game

I've calmed down since Sunday when I was almost inconsolable. We can get something at Citeh - I'd snatch your hand off for a draw right now - and I think it was Chelsea's performace in Barcelona that actually cheered me up. If they can do it, by Christ United can get the necessary result at our perennial inferiors. The Everton game is gone and in true United fashion we do it the hard way. Please just get a point by hook or by crook; we've won there once this season already.

If it wasn't those nouveau riche Stockporters chasing us, I'd be very confident, and I must admit I'm terrified by the thought of seeing them champions. This is the man up match to top them all. From what I've seen this season City simply don't respond well to pressure. Knock out football doesnt suit them and and their performances in the CL were nearly as bad as ours. This is the ultimate pressure match. The BIG one. I think their track record says that they'll blow it. I'd expect a cagey game - Mancini will indulge his inate Italian conservatism. He'll defend.

Our approach to the game could, frankly, be anything. The spine of the team will pick itself - De Gea, Evra Rio Evans, Scholes, Rooney. Beyond that? Who can say? Presumably Carrick as we don't have anyone else really. Young? Nani? Giggs? Jones? Valencia? Welbeck?

My guess is it will be nail biting because of whats at stake, but unfortunately one of those poor spectacles that fails to deliver on the hype of the occasion. Tight match decided by the odd goal.

I can not believe some so called Reds on here i have read comments such as City have the upper hand now and its over for us, where are you people coming from ? we are 3 points clear we are the ones topping the table have some faith some of you please, im guessing a lot of these doom mongers are younger than me on here i can recall the bad times i experinced relegation it seems to me a good few of you have been spoiled by our Success over the years, get behind the team we beat City at Wembley and at the council house this season we will do so again on Monday 0-2 , up the Reds .

so true. I am not as old as you, I can only speak of the mid/end 90´s. But if one thing is typical for United then its this "never give up!" attitude. No other club has that so much than we have. Its still in our hands, City are the ones who have to win the game to be level on points. We do not have to win this. But we could.

Just gone midnight on Sunday morning and I'm nervous already. I don't have a ticket and will watch at home, so any Reds lucky enough to be there, outsing the Bitters from start to finish and do us proud. The boys are going to need you, and millions of us will be there in spirit. Don't know whether I'll sleep tonight, but tomorrow night is a write off. Yes it's only a game and yes, there are far more important things going on in the world, but this is fecking important to us. Losing the title is agony, but losing it to that shower is unthinkable. I have a very good feeling about our chances tomorrow, maybe I'm wrong but there's a sort of inevitability that we will win the title this season, since day one I've had hope so why should I give up now, we will beat them 2-1 book it.

Didn't sleep very well last night, just as I thought. Taken half day off work and booked tomorrow off because the beer is already open. Nerves are shredded. I'll gladly take the draw now. The most important thing is that every United player lives up to the history of the club and relishes the big occasion. No hiding and no timidity, we go full tilt and don't give them an inch, then let's see where we end up.
