So, ummmmmmmmmm, thats us not signing a central midfielder... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-uniteds-michael-carrick-is-key-1151553
Don't agree. He's better. To be honest, this shouldn't come as a surprise - with him going after Lucas and RVP, the indications were obvious that we aren't necessarily looking to go after a midfielder.
Are they sure he didn't have a few to many glasses of wine before saying that... On a serious tip, Yaya's Motm performance against us and the great Michael Carrick should be enough to reder this statement false. Modric will probably cry himself to sleep after learning he isn't that good. Come on fergie, get em specs off FFS.
i agree with Sir Alex on this, as much as all that Scholes had after coming back for retirement, Carrick was the one who keep United together, he's at least on the same level with Yaya and Modric in term of squad player, if Sir Alex can use the offensive side of Carrick it could bring the best out of his football imo
Even if we brought in a top class CM, Carrick wouldnt lose his place, so theres no harm in buying Fergie.. Come on!
Pretty pleased with that interview, acknowledges the issue. I don't think he's wrong with anything he says aside from the obvious Carrick quote, but to be fair Scholes and Carrick played extremely well last season when paired together. I can see why there's some optimism. It's just sad that we're as reliant on Scholes as we are.
Clevs, Ando, Scholes should suffice for the time being as Carricks midfield partners. The problem is who replaces Carrick if he gets injured or needs a rest. He is really our only defensive minded midfielder unless Fergie is willing to promote someone like Tunnicliffe which i doubt.
Scholes - Too old, doesn't last the full 90 minutes and can only be used sparingly Giggs - Same as above Ando - Fitness and cardio issues, too inconsisitent Clev - Hasn't cemented his spot as a first team player despite huge expectations, granted he was unlucky with injuries last season
