One thing that REALLY annoys me, is wherever you are and whatever situation you create, the AI defenders always manage to somehow get to you and nick the ball off your foot as you go to shoot. I'm even talking in situations where you're clean through by ten yards with only the keeper to beat. Plus the referee does not register half as many fouls on your players as it does the CPU ones. I understand how people feel it's "scripted" sometimes.

As if the superpowers of AI defenders and the ignorance of the referee is not enough, there have been so many instances wherein the referee intercepts the pass. FIFA 13 will be scripted to do this too... Edit : This is more likely if you are a lower rated team, trying to make a comeback against the European elite. This is so like a nail on your coffin.
I don't think it's actually "scripted" to do anything, I just think the defects are down to the animation cycles and collision detection still having flaws. It's nigh on impossible to "script" a game like FIFA because there are too many variables. The frustrating thing is with a few tweaks here and there, it'd be amazing. They don't need to reinvent the wheel with FIFA13 (although that won't stop them changing stuff that WAS working) I have a feeling Konami is getting themselves in gear again and PES13 may just give EA the boot up the backside they've needed to produce their best. As always, I guess we'll see in October.
I disagree. I think you can clearly tell when the scripting kicks in. I don't go from playing really well to hardly being able to pass the ball within the space of 2 minutes, the computer decides it wants to give the opposition a better advantage for whatever reason and kills some of my players attributes. This is why when I go 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes suddenly I struggle to get out of my half because every pass goes to the opposition. It can't be user error. If I continue to play the same way then nothing should change, but it does.
Have you tried editing the players' stamina levels in the sliders (Control settings) I think you can play with how fatigue effects players and things like that.

I can't defend to save my arse. I am quite good in an attacking sense, but players literally WALK circles around me before I pick up the ball.... ...out of the net
ha I know that feeling. Best thing you can do is employ real life tactics (holding the line, if you move a player out of position, then get someone to cover and use midfielders to defend the line before they get to the back 4) 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 works very well for me, as does all of the above, as well as great wing play, a creative CAM and a target man.
We've got a club going on this, but need one or two more players, preferably defenders or keepers... Regularly have 5+ players on each night too Xbox 360 only
Fifa is terrible against AI. You cannot out-think or outplay the computer, but thats why I don't play much single player on any game. I go straight online. The way you have to play against other people and against AI is completely different. When was the last time you dribbled from the half-way line against AI and scored. Rarely if ever. Play an average fifa player and it's easily possible. Depends on the skill level of the player of course...
