I'm not sure if you cats in the UK will be getting this soon or have already. Hatfield and McCoy is based on the real life family feud that took place between the Hatfield and McCoy families in the late 1800s. It premiered this week on the History channel as a three part miniseries over the course of three nights. Easily the best thing I've seen on TV this year. The ratings have been off the charts and I'm sure it's going to sweep the next Emmys. Stars Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton who both put in sterling performances.

Yes. Great acting from everyone involved. My fav characters outside the main two were Johnse Hatfield ( Costner/Devil Anse son and the Judge from the Hatfield family who presided over the Hog hearing). Powers Boothe played the judge. Didn't have too many lines but his character was very strong IMO.

In real life the judges were actually two different people and they both belonged to the Hatfield family. One oversaw the Hog hearing and the other judged the two McCoys who shot the drunk who testified against them.

Funny thing is both patriarchs Anderson Hatfield (left) and Randolph McCoy (right) lived long lives. Both passed 80 with Hatfield dying at 81 and Randolph at 88.
