This time last season we had nothing but speculation United were in for Sanchez and only slightly more fact about Sneijder. We were desperately deciphering foreign interviews to see if Wesley hinted he’d like to play for United whilst not really knowing 100% than the club were keen.

This season we’ve got Hazard and Kagawa both confirming they’ve met with United and both confirming they’d at least entertain the idea of joining the club.

It’s a nice change of pace. That’s all.

Yep, and it looks likely we'll sign at least one of them. If we get Hazard, in particular, it'll provide a morale boost to fans after a disappointing season, and hopefully put an end to the 'we're skint, and can no longer sign top players' nonsense.

Yea, and with the recent news from Hazard, looks leik he might actually be coming to United. And if he does, I feel that next season United is going to be amazingggg. He says he will decide after the Belgium vs. England game, so come on Reds! Score some goals! Can't wait till pre-season!

I get what you mean though. Its so refreshing to see us actively shaping our future instead of sitting on the sidelines watching the big boys make their moves. Just wished we had done this sooner. We could have gotten some really classy players. Better late than never I suppose....

Signing Kagawa would make me really happy and if we do get Hazard then it'll be a bonus.

I'll be disappointed if we don't get Kagawa now. He's always seemed more likely than Hazard and it's been long rumoured. I also genuinely think that Kagawa has all the ingredients that would make him a great success at United.

Hazard is the more 'marquee' name and I really hope we get him but I'd still be a bit sad if it was either/or because I'd like us to get Kagawa too. He's already a fantastic player and at 23 is only likely to improve.

    If we get both?

If we can beat City to the signing of Hazard, it'll be huge, if we can't and he decides to join them then say something like, "They are the only team in Manchester and have a brighter future etc" then it'll be looking very shaky for our club.

Why is that? They haven't really poved anything and talking is done on the pitch. They won the league on goal difference but with the squad they have they should theoretically be miles ahead. Until they win 20 titles and start performing in the CL we are the biggest team in Manchester. Not to sound like a scouser and obviously it's not the full truth but it paints a decent picture.

Regarding Kagawa and Hazard, I agree with what's been said. One of them is great, both of them is a bonus but would be a massive statement.

Yup, I get the impression most fans don't want Kagawa because they are clueless muppets who haven't seen him play. They just see Japanese and think he's the new Park.

Moral wise Hazard will be the big signing.

    Great thread, my thoughts exactly.

We can only guess what will transpire, but we are there - we are
officially challenging for this windows top names. Our ambition is coming through.

I have no doubt we met with Sneijder last summer. Sanchez may also have been here but I'm not sure how definitively we were in for him.

Difference this summer is that Kagawa and Hazard have wanted themselves to announce they met with us. Not sure why, but they just do.

I don't like all the speculation. Sides and players just throw united's name into the air to earn a fast back / get more interest, and it works.

I'd prefer to just pick up a newspaper and read "Manchester United have confirmed the signature of...", than to read such and such would like to play, as it's meaningless. . I wonder though if Shinji hasn't grown up supporting Manchester United. That's what would swing any deal, really.

Bidding for players means sh*t to me. Bidding costs nothing and simply could be "a well we tried to get top players" excuse down the road. Aldershot could bid for Lionel Messi, get knocked back and then claim "we tried to buy him"

Only by getting the likes of Hazard and Kagawa do we make the statement. Anything else is just blowing hot air.

I know nobody wants to hear this, but I actually think it's far worse that they've come out and talked about it.

Now if either, or both, don't sign with us it will be a huge negative statement about the state of the club.

Here's hoping that won't be the case.

Decent point, it wont look good if Arsenal beat us to Kagawa and City/Chelsea to Hazard.......God knows who we'd go for then

I would love both here. Actually I'd rather Muniain than Hazard
