he said he wanted to join us, he is interested. His contract ends next summer, surely PSV won't let him leave for free? Im pretty certain he won't cost much when he moves in january
Well I think if we showed interest then Liverpool would, Arsenal might, Real might and other clubs that have been linked with him so it would push his price up. But yes you are right I think the starting price for him would be slightly lower because next summer he can walk away for free and so PSV would be mad to let him walk away for free in the summer. I suppose we can wait and hope that we do sign him in January because I do feel he would be a good addition to our side.
He is leaving for January for sure. He wants it, the club wants and alot of clubs want him. He at the perfect age to leave Holland, Kuyt Sneidjer Huntelaar, VDV, Ibra left between 23-24. Only Robben left before that but well, he is Robben. Anyway i think he can play in the EPL and in the Midfield area especially when he gets some weight. And with only 6 months on his contract we can get him really cheap. Seems like the kind of player Arsenal would sign but they have too many playing there anyway. And if we cant keep a player away from the cheating ba*****s well i think its pretty much over for us
He has a smashing shot on him! Abo mentioned Athetico Madrid but Inter, Arsenal and ourselves are also interested. If he hasn't signed a contract anyone can get him in January Inter Linked With January Move For PSV's Ibrahim Afellay | Sports | Peacefmonline.com.
Could he fall under the "should've gone for him, goes on to perform brilliant in EPL elsewhere for peanuts" category...
He is direct like Valencia but has a left foot as well. For the money they are quoting he could be a steal! I hope we give him a look.
Manchester United Plan £12m Double Dutch International Raid | CaughtOffside Would love them both here.
Sky Sports | Manchester United News | Football | Premier League | Afellay's relief on decision Afellay's relief on decision Highly-rated midfielder ready to take next step abroad Ibrahim Afellay admits it he is majorly relieved to have clarified his desire to quit PSV Eindhoven. The highly-rated attacking midfielder looks set to be the subject of a bidding war amongst a host of European names in the January transfer window after telling the Eredivisie outfit he would not sign a new deal at the club. PSV are faced with a situation similar to the saga Manchester United endured last week over Wayne Rooney's future, although it appears there is no chance of the Holland international performing a U-turn with the Dutch side. The likes of United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Juventus have been linked with the talented 24-year-old and Afellay - who has spent his whole career with PSV - feels his time has come to play in another league. Leap On his impending departure, he told sport-promotion.nl: "I feel that it's time to go abroad. I have had a great time in PSV and I still enjoy playing here. "But every footballer wants to try to reach the highest level possible. I think now is right to make the leap. I will of course remain one hundred percent committed to the club (until I leave). "This seems logical because I have tremendous respect for the fans. Wherever I play, I'll always take them in my hearts. "But they deserve clarity about my future and I'm glad I have now given it to them. It was a huge weight of my shoulders".
United is the perfect club for him.. scholesy is nearing his end and we need a young CAM.. afellay is the perfect player as he would get alot of games here.. he will defo be ahead of carrick. gibson. and maybe even anderson. in the pecking order
I really do like the look of this lad, he picks out the passes, takes people on and scores goals. Plus actually a fair few players have come from the Dutch League and done really well over here. It seems clear he is going to leave PSV and is certainly someone we should be looking at. He fits the bill of young with potential, and thats the kind of player we like to bring in and develop. He might seem small but he also looks like he can hold his own and has strength on the ball. Lets not forget Arsenal have a very small technical team and people keep saying all they really need is one big strong battling midfielder and they will be serious contenders for the title so being big and strong isn't everything. A lot of players have been overlooked in the past because of their size and have gone on to be top top players.
