No matter how you gift wrap it up poor midfield backing the manager blaming the defence we lost it plain and simple sometimes posts like war and peace dont have no relevance just posters trying to gain kudos for themselves bottom line is we lost it we tried hard but came up short sometimes inquests dont mean shyte sometimes shyte happens get over it and move on enjoy the summer what will happen in terms of transfers will take care of itself.
But United are shit and Fergie is senile, except United level on points with city 21 clear of Arsenal 22 clear of Spurs 25 clear of Chelsea 37 clear of Liverpool If we're shit then city are just as shit, the rest are even worse. City spend 400m on players and we're 400m in debt, they should be 10-20pts clear of United in the League. We threw away a 8 point lead ? City threw away a 10 point lead. United were pathetic in the Champions League ? City were pathetic in the Champions League Injuries ? I wont even go there, wouldn't know where to start. Fergie is past it and makes terrible decisions ? Then so is Mancini and makes the same amount of terrible decisions. Somehow we've managed to match City every inch of the way this season yet according to some (so called) United supporters we're shit. Given what we have, I would say we've done remarkably well to be level on points with city with one game to go. Much better than I thought we'd do.
Bravo a post of substance telling it how it is and not flowering it up with reams of meaningless words
cheers mate re tevez yes he could have made them alot greater but he also may have caused more problems, you never know, it appears that time away was really good for him...but compare tevez to say the brutal injuries and illness the midfield and defence has suffered for united and its far more impacting what united have endured with so many players out i agree united have had some poor performances in the league (and all the comps), and yes its the transfer market but also the disruption to the squad with up to 14 players out at times this season has made things very difficult and your last point - well said - no other manager could have had united level on points at the top of the prem after the season they have had
I did, and I still thought that up until a few games ago. Predictions can go out the window though. I've also thought we've done much better than I thought we would for about 6 months now and I still think that.
Tell me about it.. I thought if City dropped 9 points we'd be good.. then we lost an 8 point lead and lost to them.. Predictions.
Admittedly I thought we'd blown it midway through the season, especially after they raped us at Old Trafford. But to throw it away right at the death, having clawed it back is very frustrating. Hopefully though, it's a lesson that will be learned.
We'd be celebrating our 20th league title already had we not lost Vidic no doubt in my mind, the man is that good and it would be similar to City losing Kompany, which again just shows our strength in depth considering I think City would be absolutely f**ked if they were to lose Kompany for the length to which we've lost Vidic.
Sorry for opening the discussions in this thread. I know that we have to move forward, but this article is really worth a read. http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012...-injury-league-with-manchester-united-bottom/
It was ours to throw away and alas...... . Lessons to be learnt! The absence of Vidic was a big factor , but we should have been able to compensate for this.
Doesn't matter, we still got ourselves into pole position. We threw it away - pure and simple. One word "Everton"
Injuries are just a smokescreen to cover our lousy performances towards the end of the season, coupled with complacency. Not caring any more because it's over now. Agreed, injuries took their toll, but like Mikey said, we are the ones to blame. No team should throw an 8 point lead in 5 games.
There is a consensus that we blew the title away due to complacency and ridiculous performances. However, the way Mancini portrayed the entire scenario was as if he was the one who was devoid of players due to injuries. Also, injury played a miserable part in the loss - had we had Vidic, I doubt we would have ever lost against Everton.
If we'd have been professional and not switched off in the last 20 minutes of the Everton match, we'd never have lost. Maybe had Vida been there we: a - wouldn't have switched off, and b - we might have got away with it because Vida saved us. If's and buts though.
I admit that we were careless towards the end of the match - no excuses at all. But having Vidic would have definitely improved atleast our GD significantly, if not points. Edit : And in the past two years, we have always had someone 'saving' us. Its not as if we are cruising easily to victory. There is an inherent weakness in the squad quality.
