£15m apparently, what do people on here reckon to that?

I'd have to say hes worth it, class little player, if Henderson and Downing cost a combined £40m then hes well worth a punt...

Would rather spend £15m on Allen than £15m on RVP.

    Serious.

very likely to happen, though for me £15M is a little bit overpriced. isn't Liverpool have too many midfielders already?

If 15m is overpriced for someone with the best pass success rate across Europe last season, well then i hate to see what you'd think of us signing Sneijder or Lucas.

    You're thinking of Leon Britton

Fantastic player though. Would be a great signing for them. I thought Rodgers had some agreement that he couldn't sign Swansea players for a year or something?

Because you said 15m was overpriced for a hard tackling midfielder with great passing, compared to a 19year old who's going for nothing like 35m and Sneijder whos had 2 less than stellar season's and wont go for less than 30m.

well yes my thought on Joe Allen is not correct, but i haven't said nothing on Lucas & Sneijder, £35M for Lucas Moura is simply not worth the risk despite many people say he'll be world class one day, and yet Sneijder's £30M price tag is overpriced indeed, if it was 2 years ago that might be reasonable

He will do well for them. Far better passing accuracy than Henderson and Adam.

100% with you on that, Allen had a ridiculous number of completed passes last year...

Exactly the player they need to be fair, hope we're the "other" club that has put a bid in

He's better off at Swansea. Liverpool will be disastrous again this season. Rodgers will fail miserably.

    agree with this...

think this might be the case, so I worry for Joe as a welshman... Very tidy player

he can go in for them if another club also declares official interest.

TBF though if we did and weren't sniffing around RVP some people would be saying "Why are we going for these average players when world class talent is available?"

Although van Persie wouldn't be the player that I would choose that we sign given carte blanche you can't fault the ambition of going for him. If you look at things from the aspect of pure ability, thus discounting his age and possible injury-proneness he is a player that has enough talent that he would fit in at ANY club on the planet (that includes Barca and Real). So although I would rather we sign a beast in midfield I really can't knock Fergie or the club in trying to sign him. It's still a positive move, whether we end up getting him or not.

It's very possible. He's coming in and attempting to radically alter the way that Liverpool play. That won't be easy at all. They don't have the players and although Rodgers will probably bring in a few of 'his' players he'll still also have to make do with putting square pegs into round holes and shoe-horning some of the current Dipper squad into playing in a style that they are unaccustomed. I mean, look at the problems that Villas-Boas had at Chelsea in trying to do that and I don't think he was attempting to change their style of play as much as Rodgers is.

The way I see it, the most success Rodgers will have is if they finish fifth or sixth and he manages to get them playing at least partially how he wants them to play. But if it goes wrong, I can see it going VERY wrong. Swansea already played some good football before Rodgers arrived there. So there wasn't that much he had to change. The Scousers are different. I admire the bloke for his ambition. But it's a tall order.
