Joshua King has sustained a bad-ish ankle injury.
He's in too much pain to have a scan yet, so it looks like 3-6 weeks out.

The lad is so so unlucky with injuries. Hope we loan him out to PNE again.

What do you guy think of Cameron Stewart, Hull City fans seem to think he shows a bit of potential?

    Is he better than Macheda?

No, he hasn't gone to Hull. Yet.... ;)

Do we think he's nearly ready to feature now?

Hasn't been on the best of form lately, has been played out of position which probably hasn't helped but he could be ready to make the step up soon enough. Might feature in the last game against Blackpool......

Whether he's better than Macheda I'm not sure. King hasn't been lucky with injuries which has halted his progress but the thing stopping Macheda is himself. He doesn't seem to have the best attitude and hasn't really progressed since that goal against Villa all those years ago. His loan to Samp has been a joke altogether so he could possibly be sold in the summer. I'd like us to keep Macheda but having King coming through may be a reason to sell him

Hasn't he been played out wide to accomodate Obertan centrally? Seems a little strange, I think of reserves as preperation for first team and I never see King being a winger here or Obertan a striker.

Yeah he has and agree that by playing them out of position is mainly for development, don't think it will be permanent. Fergie has looked to sign a Thierry Henry type player for a while though,(Bellion was an epic fail), Obertan playing up front could be to mould him in to that type of player. Could be a success

Josh King is a very good goalscorer and it may be that with his pace, Fergie sees him as more likely to get a chance on the left wing for the First Team. He might be able to cut in off the wing and score in the way that Nani has done on occasion while lining up on the right side.

He got the first two goals against Chelsea Reserves the other week. His finishing style looks effortless.

Manchester United Official Web Site - New United deal for Joshua King

Joshua King has agreed a new two-year contract with the Reds, extending his terms until the summer of 2013.

The Norwegian forward has been a regular member of the reserve team that won their league and lifted the Manchester Senior Cup this season.

Earlier in the campaign, the 19-year-old picked up some valuable experience during a loan spell with Preston in the Championship.

King is a versatile forward with explosive pace and was on the substitutes' bench for the first team's 4-0 victory at Wigan.

Although showing a real eye for goal when playing through the middle, the teenager was also deployed in a wider role towards the end of the term.

Brilliant news. He's one of my favourite players at the club, and I'd love to see him show up on the left wing in the coming season, as I think he's more likely to be used out wide than in either of the striking roles.

I hope you mean as an inside winger like Pedro at Barcelona, Moon. He's wasted as a winger in a 4-4-2.

I think we'll eventually start playing 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 more often.

True he would be wasted in a 4-4-2 position... but isn't it like he will be vying the same position as that of Welbeck???

You can line them up as you wish, Owenzy, but I assumed that Fergie wasn't planning on using him as a central striker for the First Team when he was coming off the left with pace, during recent Reserves' matches. Might be a nice option as a sub if Nani / Park have gone off with 10 minutes to go.
