To be fair, he's probably under orders.

Do we have any regular Dutch league watchers who could shed some more detailed light on Strootman?

I don't watch it religiously but I've seen enough of him to know £11M is a bargain. He can anchor the midfield and dictate from deep but he's really a box-to-box midfielder. Six goals last season, but if he could improve his shooting accuracy and work on his right foot, I think he could score at least 10 goals a season because he does get into good posistions in and around the box. He's a decent dribbler too so he can easily go past players and create chances for himself. Obviously the most important attributes are passing and tackling, I think he's great at both. He had 17 assists in all competitions, he has a similar through ball to Kagawa which he likes to use and his pass completion was at least 80%. There's definitely better tacklers on the market but I'm pretty sure he made the most in Holland last season. He puts himself about and intercepts alot better than anyone we've got, that's for sure.

I think Rennes want £17M for M'Vila, so I'd still prefer him but Strootman is a close second. He's made for this league and £11M is an absolute steal, really hope it happens now.

Sounds exactly what we need - we have good relations with PSV as well.

Sort of, they were a little open to it. It was more about not discussing his future until after the Euros.

That bloke says lots of things,.

f**king hell. That's an incredible return for anyone let alone a box-to-box midfielder.

Well, the poster is reliable, but not sure about the "reporter" Hugo Borst. Many on Twitter said Hugo is a very respected and reliable journalist in Holland but there isn't a proof that he said so about Strootman.

i like the way they quote the price for the player knowing full well that the price quoted is no where near the value of the club. If he has a good tournament expect that to rise with every game he plays.

Dutch players traditionally settle well over here, so if we did sign him I wouldn't be too concerned about him adapting.

Park and Anderson sold then. If we sign 3 or 4 midfielders I see no space for them any more.

I think Powell is likely and one of Modric / Strootman. Who of these two depends on what formation Fergie has in mind.

For what it's worth I still trust Bob Cass as one of the better reporters when it comes to United transfers, even though he had a fallout with Fergie last year. According to him we're going to see 3-4 players coming in and if we sign the likes of Clyne and Powell I'm not convinced they'll be part of the 3-4.

I think Orko is spot on and seeing how the Berba situation looks I could see him plus cash going to Dortmund with Lewandowski coming the other way.
