what makes you so sure RVP stays there? Can see Barca selling Villa and buying van Persie.

Arsenal could finaly break their wage structure to keep RVP and if they can get the CL spot he will not go anywhere ... he will stay to be their captain and become a legend there like Henry is... but if they fail to make it to the CL then it would be difficult...guess he is just waiting for that only

Like the Eto'o/Ibra deal? Not with this one. Barca will probably just break the bank for him seeing as how they have money tucked away from those CL conquests. They might be tempted, but if Arsenal want to have a cushion to ease the departure of their talisman, they will put RVP up for the highest bidder. Wouldn't be surprised if Madrid joined in.

Lot of people say he's Arsenal bound, good signing for them, way better than Arshavin

Gervinho is decent, great at some things, awful at others. He can't finish to save his life and really panics in pressure situations, he's a quality footballer though. Can beat men for fun, bit of a poor man's Nani.

Podolski is far, far better. Immense talent.

Not running with the flow of Podolski being the best thing since sliced bread but he's a going to be a good capture for Arsenal and a very astute replacement for Arshavin, proven pedigree at all levels.

Podolski is good, probably a decent enough replacement for Arshavin, better than Walcott, not necessarily better than Ox (yes, i rate ox that high)

Potentially Ox is going to be better than Podo.

I dont think anyone should stand in the way of Ox's development, especially Wenger, kid needs first team football consistently, huge talent

I see Walcott losing out on playing time if Podolski comes in .. Ox will be a regular starting next season and he will surely be a big addition to the squad... his performance against us in the league is a testimony

Arsenal close on £11million Lukas Podolski | The Sun |Sport|Football

ARSENAL last night had an £11million bid offer accepted for Cologne's German international striker Lukas Podolski.

Podolski, 26, has been offered a four-year contract worth £100,000-a-week.

Despite hoping for £20m, Cologne have accepted this latest offer, having turned down an initial bid of £8m.

Arsene Wenger's lack of strikers — other than Robin Van Persie — has been obvious this season.

Emirates defender Per Mertesacker admitted in Germany yesterday that he had been quizzed by his international team-mate about life in north London.

Mertesacker said: "He has been very interested for the past few weeks.

"He has sent me a number of text messages, and I have told him this is a great place to work and that Arsenal are an amazing club."

Arsenal are also interested in Dortmund star Mario Gotze and are tracking West Brom's Peter Odemwingie, who is seen as a squad player.

im just gonna say it... i dont think this is a great deal for arsenal

100k a week for a player that makes arshavin look like daily thompson?

podolski is renowned for being lazy, and a bit of a bad egg

also, didnt michael schumacher part fund the signing of podolski to koln?

Podolski has always flattered to deceive for me. His record for Germany is excellent and he's always impressed at major tournaments but at club level I'm not so sure. He never really got going at Bayern Munich and his 2nd spell at Koln as not been as fruitful as his first. I think he'll be a decent replacement for Arshavin though.

Interesting change of tact from Wenger with recent signings i.e. buying established players such as Arteta, Benayoun and now Podolski.

maybe he's finally started to grow up a bit and settle down... which is good, because he is a class finisher

as many have said, he's always been impressive for Germany, but this season is the first time he's shown comparable form in the league. Even though he looks set to sign for Arsenal, it would be nice to see him do well in the premiership - as long as it's not against us of course ;)

I personally think this is a great signing for Arsenal. Takes most of the pressure of RVP to provide goals. Must have been brought in to compensate for the flops of Benayoun and Chamakh.
