    Good point :D

But still, shouldn't take long to find out if there's going to be a problem. The delay is worrying.

Calm down. You actually come across as quite spoilt in that post.

Yes, it was very disappointing to lose to Barca in the way that we did - especially as we all know we just didn't turn up and we can play much better than that, and yes, it is also disappointing to lose Ronaldo as he was indeed our best player.

However, lets get some perspective. We've also just won the Premier League (the hardest league in the world) for a third time in succession and equalled the Scouser's record of 18 titles won. We're the first English club to win the league 3 times in a row twice. We've gotten to the Champions League final twice in a row and we won it in 2008 (not actually that long ago!). We also won the Club World Cup and Carling Cup this season.

We've also got £80 million for Ronaldo to spend on new players, plus the money we've saved in not signing Tevez - who I thought was overrated and not worth that amount of money anyway, so it's kind of like a blessing in disguise. We've brought in a proven young winger in Valencia which we needed because our current wingers - Nani and Park - don't provide us which much consistent pace and width down the wings. And now we have plenty of money and time to strengthen our squad.

Think about what United were like in the 70s and 80s when we were winning nothing season after season and the Scousers were winning everything before you claim this to be our 'worst' summer in ages. A worst summer where you've just won the league? Strange.

Hope Michael can resurrect his career at United, ha was a wonderful player for Liverpool over the years. He is one of my favourite players of all time, not overly happy that he's going to United but I would like the see him to do well, especially so in games ye draw or lose.;)

    Its not spoilt at all.

I don't want Michael Owen anywhere near our team.

I saw a lot of Newcastle matches last season, and the season before, and I haven't seen a single good performance from him.

If I was to say we should be spending 80M on superstars - yes thats spoilt, but saying I would much rather Macheda and Welbeck get chances rather than a cripple who's average is completely far.

And it is the worst summer in ages. Its 20 since since the 80's. In other words, 20 years since we've had a summer as bad as this - ages. I know what the 80's were like, as I was born then.

What I meant to say was we lost our best player (Ronaldo) and our most popular player (Tevez) in one summer. Meanwhile Madrid will now become a strong side again, Liverpool - who were close to us last season, will improve and so will Chelsea.

I will support him of course.

Doesn't change the fact that I hate the fact he's playing for us. Its no different from those who critisize Nani, yet I don't see many people saying 'tough shit' to them.

well said, ill support him till hes no longer a united player and i hope he proves me and all other doubters wrong.

i hope we get him on a pay when you play contract id hate to see a player like him getting payed for being injured. and a pay when you play contract would give him even more of a incentive to preform.

i for sure hope we dont see a number 7 on his back.

I actually agree with you to an extent - I'm not over the moon about us signing Owen because I think he's injured too often and hasn't played well even for Newcastle for a while. It is a free transfer though, bear that in mind.

However, it's still not the worst summer we've had in ages because we've just won the league for the 3rd time in a row and like I say, it's the 18th time for us as well. That should mean a lot. The reason it came across as spoilt was because of that reason alone - we've just won the league, so the summer can hardly be bad. Maybe we've become so used to our team winning the league that we've all become a bit spoilt?

As for other teams, Liverpool haven't made any signings yet, and we'll just have to see about Madrid. Maybe this Galactico policy will work immediately for them. Maybe it won't. Remember how far off Barca they were last season. We've made an unspectacular signing in Valencia - but it is an improvement to our team nonetheless and there is plenty of time to go in the transfer market yet!

Funnily enough I actually think Valencia is a brilliant signing.

But I know we have just won the league - thats great. But now we have lost the top scorer in that (and the 2 before) title winning campaign. We have also lost a good player who scored some vitally important goals.

Without Ronaldo we would not have won the 3 leagues, and definately not made the last 2 CL finals. Can Owen, a goalscorer, get near to Ronaldo's goals and assists? I don't think so.

It would really soften the blow if we can get another winger, so we have 4, but I just can't see where we will get one from so I think we'll be sticking with what we've got, which isn't good enough IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with that. I know losing Ronaldo is a massive blow to our team. How can it not be? We've just lost our most prolific goal scorer and one of the best players in the world. I know how much he contributed to us winning the league, and I agree Owen is a pretty poor replacement if that's what he's supposed to be. However, I don't think Owen is the replacement, I still there there are other signings to come who will hopefully be brought for their goal threat.
