His contract runs out in the summer and he will more than likely leave, but if it were up to you would you keep him around the squad or let him leave? Fergie said he was great around the dressing room and the training pitch and he has to be a great example to the young strikers in the club. He scores some important goals too, so I say we hang on to him for another year. Poll added.
He is a very handy player to have in the squad, and he can also pass on some of his experience to Chic and hopefully Wellbeck if he comes back. The problem is he's rarely fit and that can leave us short on numbers if we are relying on him to be available for most of the season (although, I don't think that should be too much of a problem if Wellbeck, Diouf and Macheda come back). As long as he's not being paid over the odds for the amount of game time he'll probably get, which I'm sure he won't be, then I say keep him for 1 more year.
I would give him another year and send Welbeck out on loan again. Hopefully Welbeck will get experience in europe as well if Sunderland qualify. I also feel Owen is the more likely to come off the bench and score if he was needed.
I'd give him another year, might be worth making it pay as you play though - as I don't think he is on one of those deals atm
i voted no, but would gladly keep him over a pay as you play contract. otherwise, no. we've got welbeck diouf and hernandez, and thats not counting macheda who i believe would go out on loan again next season. Welbeck and Hernandez has proved their worth already. they are more than able backups.
Dont get me wrong he's a good player but i just think he may hinder Chicarito's development, everytime he plays its with Owen. We need him to gel with Berba and or Rooney, plus i really dislike him
Proving your worth at Sunderland and then doing it for Manchester United is very different. Granted he didnt have the opportunities he had at Sunderland. But on the opportunities he did had, he proved nothing. Where as Hernandez very much took his chances. We wont be as patient for the lad when he comes back like Sunderland have been
At least he showed he could perform week in week out in the EPL, especially the game against Chelsea.
Dont get me wrong his done very well. But I dont think his proved his worth for a top four club just yet.
How embarrassing that I'm the only one to have chosen 'unsure'! What a pathetic, indecisive, wishy-washy vote to have made. I thought some others would have voted that, but no, I'm the only pathetic, indecisive, wishy-washy fan on this site and I've been really shown up here.
I voted let him go. I've got my England hat on for this one, and he'll never get back in the squad while at United.
I said let him go. He's been a very good signing considering we got him for nothing, but I think next season we should go with 4 front-line strikers and that they should be: Rooney, Berba, Chicha and Welbeck. If Owen stays he'll be playing games that either Chicha or Welbeck should be playing.
