Modric talked and now at Real Madrid

there's this guy on twitter named agent007itk and he tweeted that Modric has agreed personal terms with United, which left United & Hotspur to deal with the transfer fees, don't know whether it's true or not, but this guy tweeted Powell is signing with United like 2 days ago and Hazard to Chelsea like several days before Hazard announces that he's going to Chelsea

maybe worth checking back and seeing his timeline then. Negotiations will be tough as Levy loves screwing every penny out of us.

I think Modric is PSG bound, doubt we'll go head-to-head with them in a bidding war and Levy will go with whoever offers more money which will be PSG. We won't go past £30m, and i think we've already had a £22m bid rejected?

I agree that Carrick definitely needs a replacement first and foremost. But i don't see anything wrong if Modric does join us. Scholes will not be as fresh as when he came back last season and we can't be rely on him again who is 37 now. Clevs has shown a lot of promise but if he doesn't get over his injury woes we will be in real strife next season as we'll be left with Anderson who himself is injury prone. So if we can land Modric for 25-30m i wouldn't be opposed to it since he's a proven PL player.

Modric siging this season will make sense .... remember last season we could not rest either Scholes or Carrick even when we wanted to ... one game we rested Scholes middle of that fine run, we lost to Wigan ... so next season would like to see Modric & Scholes/Carrick in front of the back four ... Cleverly can get some game time as sub or in case of injuries ...

the more I think about it am sure Fergie is looking at Modric as the first option and then if it does not happen may look at someone like Strootman or Asamoah

You can't live up to hype of you're not on the field and the fee wouldn't be half as big as it should be because he barely played in the past season.

I don't think the board give Fergie a strict transfer budget. He tells them which players he wants and then they spend whatever is necessary on a deal-by-deal basis. If we spend £4M on Powell then a few weeks later Fergie tells the Glazers we can get Modric for £30M, I highly doubt they would tell him we've only got £26M left so we can't get him.

The issue is, there's no way in hell Modric is going for £30M. As soon as PSG put that bid in, Chelsea will up it. He'll probably be going for £40M. Fergie will say "that's not value" and pull out.

So if he barely played, why should Fergie sign him? Powell made over 40 appearances last season, he was Crewe's top scorer and he cleaned up at the end of season awards...I'm not sure why you think Barkley's the better option.
