2:35-3:27 Jonny's solo. Words can't describe the transition of feelings I get when Jonny rapes his Tele.
More emotions and mood swings than a 37 year old crack-addict widow who lost her puppy due to chocolate overdose on her worst period, all mixed with sweet rainbows and sexual caramel and manly tears all played through the fingers of Greenwood as he makes sweet love to his bitch. Total out of body experience.

    More to cum.

One moment that sticks out is the transition from Parabol to Parabola on Tool's Lateralus. I close my eyes and get insane goosebumps everytime.

And the solo on Soma by the Pumpkins.

The solo in Soma is unreal. My favourite Pumpkins song.

Pantera - Suicide Note Part II when the riff kicks in I just want to drop kick ten grannys.

Slash in November Rain. Bit mainstream, but I quite like it.

    Also, Radiohead:

I die a little bit inside when Steve says 'My David don't you worry' a death out of happiness, fluffiness and other intense feelings that Jesus feels when he ejaculates on a wine drinking goat.

I'll let the Radiohead thing slide, but I totally agree about that solo. One of the best of all time.

Mark Knopfler's guitar solo on Sultans of Swing.

The entirety of this version of There, There. Just Thom and Jonny rocking out. Awesome music is awesome, better than the album version:

    Slash on November Rain. Epic.

    Any Chuck Berry solo.

I'll think of more, but have to go to work now.

I don't find November Rain's solo to be that special, it's very good, but it's too long that it becomes tedious and make you lose interest. I love long solos, but this one I don't. Sweet Child of Mine, Knocking on Heaven's door those songs had killer solos.

Solos, when played are out of body experience, and when heard with immersion, you get close to that 'out of body' experience that the guitarist get's.
Niel Young and J Mascis can make the longest of the solos interesting. First time I listened to Like a Hurricane live, my jaw was dropped for 3 minutes, my eyes didn't blink and I didn't move a single bit while watching Neil Young make love to his guitar.
The same about loads of Dinosaur Jr. songs (as almost every Dino Jr. song has a solo, and a pretty good solo too)
I almost blackout when I listen to Get Me's solo and Out There's intro. Also Raisens' solo is mindblowing.
This is why Mascis is God, and I managed to convince most of the knowledgeable guitar players I met that J Mascis is probably among the top 5 greatest soloist of all the time.

The most important part to make a solo interesting, is to play it with your feeling, which Mascis, Young and Gilmour are very good at. When you play a long solo, I don't want to see a showcase of your exceptional guitar skills, your world class shredding and Godlike tremeloes, I want to feel what you feel. I don't feel much when I listen to Slash's NR solo, at first it gets me, but then it's too f**king long and not something with feelings.
While his solo on KOHD even tho it's short, it feels like Bob Dylan's demons have been liquefied and I drank that tasty depressing sweet liquid. Slash had a fine moment there.
