As a fan of Manchester United I've become accustomed over the years to see a high tempo exciting style of football with plenty of scoring. For the past 15 years I've been following the Phoenix Suns. Their style is fast-paced and exciting like United. At the moment the Suns have slid back into mid-table mediocrity, but they still have former league MVP Steve Nash, and the exciting (if oft-injured) Amare Stoudamire. Who does anybody else support? Shall I bet there are a few LA Lakers glory-hunters out there? Or Bulls fans dating back to the Michael Jordan - Scottie Pippen years? Anyone else love the Suns or follow the NBA? :specool:
http://www.manutdtalk.com/forums/all-other-sports/8773-basketball.html We do discuss NBA down there mainly.
It's a good time to love the Lakers. Although I can't see them winning it next year. But actually the moment I typed that, I thought back to all the years in the NBA when the Bulls, or the Spurs, or the Rockets, or the Pistons were winning and more glamourous teams picked by the pundits failed to live up to their promise! Orlando, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, New Orleans .... they all play some nice games but haven't gotten over the hump yet!
Lakers fans since 2000 here. I do think lakers have a high chance though. In Artest, they have got someone who is more experience than Ariza. Plus, Artest does have his fair share of offensive power, and against cleveland, Lebron would be guarded easily by both Kobe and Artest. Celtics would be a major force again though.
Did anyone go to see the Chicago Bulls v. Utah Jazz game that was played in London on Tuesday night? I wanted to go but couldn't make it.
I didn't go but I read the news reports. It sounded like a great game. Over 16000 fans saw the Utah Jazz win 102-101 with a buzzer beating winning basket. They're already talking about bringing an NBA game back to the O2 Arena next year.
Hey, reddwarf, so we both like the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. Do you have a fave NBA team? Mine is Phoenix Suns. Logic would dictate that it's the Miami Heat, but I started following Phoenix when their line-up included Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, and pretty soon after, Charles "The Round Mound of Rebound" Barkley arrived!
LOL. I support Lakers cause it was the first ever NBA team i've watched playing. Its Lakers that help Odom fulfill his potential though. Personally I like Odom because of his style of playing.
I read something a couple of months ago that said Odom has a really terrible diet. Apparently he eats loads of candy, chocolates, and junk food, but then burns off all the calories. Here's one article about it: The sweet story of Lamar Odom's love of candy | Home >> Other Sections >> Breaking News
I don't really follow the NBA as much as I used to. There was a weekly highlights programme on ITV but ever since that stopped I haven't really kept track of what's going on. When I got into the NBA the LA Lakers were dominating so I mostly watched their games but I have a soft spot for the Chicago Bulls too for some reason. The only live basketball I've seen was when the Harlem Globetrotters came to Manchester but that's more of a circus than a basketball game these days.
Don't follow too much, but the teams I "support" as such, or, want to win, are the Rockets, and the Spurs. PS - And Flint Tropics!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm interested to see how my Phoenix Suns pick up the pace now that Shaquille O'Neal has gone to join LeBron James in Cleveland, and the Suns have Channing Frye (a more mobile center) to run alongside Nash, Richardson, Hill and Stoudamire.
and i'm excited how lakers are going to play. Fisher(Farmar), Bryant, Artest, Odom, Gasol. or even Bryant at the point, Artest at 2, Odom, Gasol, and Bynum. holy
Actually I can see Odom being 6th man. I see the more likely line-up as: PG Fisher SG Bryant SF Artest PF Gasol C Bynum
