Time for a new NFL thread since the new season kicks off tonight as the Super Bowl champs, the Pittsburgh Steelers, take on the Tennessee Titans.

Coverage starts at 1am over here so I'll probably just watch the highlights show tomorrow evening.

    I'm glad it's back though!

I can't see my team, the Miami Dolphins, doing as well as last season (making the playoffs) but who knows?!

Some of the predictions I've read seem to think the Colts will struggle this year with a new coach and may not make the playoffs. With Peyton Manning at QB that would certainly come as a surprise to me.

How do you think your team will do? Who do you think will make the playoffs and go on to win the Super Bowl? Is anyone else attending the game at Wembley next month between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

    Another Dolphins fan!

Hello from another fan of the mighty Miami Dolphins! I've been following them closely through pre-season, and they won some good matches. I like the sense of unity that coach Tony Sparano is instilling in the team, and I like the personnel he's going with. As always in a tough AFC East division, the New England Patriots are a constant threat. With a healthy Tom Brady at QB, you can never count them out. After years of inconsistency, the Jets and Bills are always thorns in the side of Miami. Oh, and Terrell Owens is in Buffalo now! ;)

As for the other divisions, it will be interesting to see how two big teams - Tennessee and Pittsburgh - fair in this opening fixture. I think Indianapolis and Jacksonville always offer strength, as do the Baltimore Ravens. One of these years the Houston Texans, packed full of high draft picks, might achieve something! Only the AFC West seems weak where the Chargers are perhaps the strongest of a mediocre group.

For a die-hard Dolphins fan who cheers for the AFC come Pro Bowl time, I fear this could be the year of NFC domination.

But there are so many unknown quantities. How will veteran Brett "no seriously, when i say I'll retire, I mean next time" Favre fare in the dome at Minnesota? Will Michael Vick get any playing time behind Donovan McNabb in Philadelphia? Will number one draft pick Matt Stafford lead the hopeless Detroit Lions to ..... a win?! :D Can the Cardinals get to another Super Bowl? I fancy the New York Giants to do well, and I have a sneaky feeling that the Falcons could be in the mix too.

Sadly I can't make it to the Wembley game, but I might get over to the States at some point. I've been to games in New York, Washington, Miami and Oakland before, so I might go for an authentic NFL experience and watch a game in the arctic winds of Chicago or Green Bay!! Or maybe I can be the lone Dolphin away at Buffalo?! The only problem with that city is the last time I was there it smelt of rotten eggs! :thumbsdownsmileyani

Any more United fans also love the NFL? :first:

Im a fan a few teams, the Dolphins because of Ace Ventura and Dan marino, the Patriots because i was given a jersey when i was young as a gift, and the Chargers because when i started watching NFL they were pretty good and i liked the outfit and lightning strike!!

As for the Superbowl this year, if Brady is fit then i think its the Pats to lose. best QB in the NFL no doubt and with recievers like Moss and Welker, and a more agiela dn young looking defense they look a solid pick.

Dolphins will be interesting to see how the progess after their wildcat season, and the Chargers are good enough to do what ever the want to if Rivers and LT can be big players at the same time.

I became a Dolphins fan because my parents took me to America on holiday when I was a kid and my dad bought me a Miami Dolphins t-shirt. My younger brother got a Washington Redskins t-shirt so it could have been either of those teams to be honest.

The Pats are the number one supported team in the UK. Most likely because they are currently one of the most successful and Tom Brady is recognised Worldwide after his appearances on Family Guy and in the gossip pages due to his relationship with the supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

I can't wait to see Brady in action at Wembley!!!

Another Dophins fan- also dont think we will do as well as last season because of the strength of our schedule having to play Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, New England (x 2) and Tennessee this season.

Think the Patriots will go close but going to back Baltimore with cold cash at 25s at the beginning of the season in the AFC.

The NFC is closer and tougher to pick. Cant see the Cardinals making it back to the big game so expect the New York Giants to make it through on that side.

I'm a member of NFL UK (it's free to join) so was offered and bought my tickets months ago.

I actually got an email from them today notifying me that tickets are going on general sale this Friday from 11am. The email says tickets will be £30-£140 and you can buy them from Ticketmaster. You need to have an account with Ticketmaster so you'll have to sign up (if you don't already have one) before buying your tickets.

bit of a San Diego Chargers fan here! I have an interest in the bengals too, my best mate supports them, and I have another mate who "conveniently" decided to "support" the giants JUST AFTER their superbowl win  Looking forward to the new season, should be a good 'un!

Slighty brutal calling for Favre to be sizzled at a high temperature. I think if he is to meet his maker this season, better bets for a fatality include:

    1) Getting hit by a piece of falling debris from the roof of the ageing Metrodome.

    2) Being hit by the Viking mascot riding his Harley Davidson.

    3) Getting nailed by the Steelers Defense in week 7. (If they don't do it, his ex-Packer teammates might put the hit on him the following week!)

Bret Favre is the reason I most miss Fox Soccer Channel, it was the only place that didn't talk about Bret Favre.

The world must hate me. Nothing is going right, except for our
defense. It's Grossman all over again! :fyou: :rtfm:  :red:

Cutler REALLY needs to step it up in the second half.

Not the start I was hoping for!!! I thought the Dolphins were going to be shut out until they scored a TD with just over 3 minutes to go. With the Colts and then the Chargers up next this is already looking like it could be a long season.

Have faith my friend! The Wildcat offense will bamboozle a few teams, and I have confidence that it will be a winning season! ;)

I've just read an article which claims that the NFL are in talks with Wembley to host the Super Bowl!!!

That would be amazing. I'd love for that to happen!!!

It would be at least 4 years before it could happen though because the next 3 Super Bowl venues have already been chosen.

Actually I'm not sure how I feel about that to be honest. I know that the fans of the teams concerned would be furious if in the year they get to the Super Bowl, they'd have to travel half way across the world to see the big game, let alone across America! Plus the Super Bowl isn't just the game itself, it's the week building up to it with lots of events, the atmosphere, the Americana! To hold it in London sounds more like a chance to grow the game around the world, it would be amazing if tickets were on open sale to Brits, but I'm a purist .... I think there is charm in the biggest sporting event of the year being held in an American city.

Plus, if you think about it, it could be a really strange kick-off time!! Do you think the American networks are going to hope for a massive American TV audience when it's morning on the west coast? "Super Bowl Sunday", whenever I experienced it in the States, was about partying, drinking, eating copious amounts of meat, and having a good time. That takes an afternoon with the game ending in the evening. Surely Americans aren't going to want "Super Bowl Brunch"??

And what about the Brits? If you adjust the game for the American market, are we going to be standing in Wembley with a 9pm or 10pm kickoff? And this is late January / early February!!! It's wet, cold, miserable in London! That's why they always hold the Super Bowl in a domed stadium or some place hot that people want to visit in winter!! The Super Bowl should be in Miami! LA! Phoenix! :specool:

    Think it through people!
