Real Madrid confirm signing of Germany star Mesut Ozil Real Madrid have completed the signing of Germany World Cup star Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen. The 21-year-old was in outstanding form during Germany's run to the semi-finals, and had attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. The two clubs are believed to have agreed a fee of about 15m euros (£12.4m) for a player with one year left on his contract. Ozil will undergo a medical in Madrid on Wednesday. A statement on the Real website paid fulsome tribute to Ozil's qualities. "His unique touch, unmatched individual technique, excellent ball control and deadly last pass make the German midfielder one of the brightest up-and-coming stars in European football," read the statement. Ozil, who follows his Germany team-mate Sami Khedira to the Bernabeu, joined Bremen from Schalke in 2008. "We respect that Mesut wants to go and take the next step in his career," said Werder Bremen's director of sport Klaus Allofs. that's that then,,,,,

I'm not too disheartened. I haven't seen him outside of the World Cup, so I wouldn't suggest signing a player based on one tournament. Even in the World Cup, he went a bit quiet towards the end of the tournament. Add tothis the fact that some have doubts over his position in a 4-4-2. Also, I failed to be surprised by Madrid. Just when you don't think they need a player, they sign them anyway. Who says we even wanted him?

canales is a far better prospect than ozil... that boys pure class also, i just get from all this that barca, utd, and chelsea didnt actually make any offers, and that only left madrid... so thats were he has ended up
they have got a squad number quota so not too far off having a squad quota... I dont believe we were ever that interested in him, if Sneijder was available, yes I expect we would have moved for him as he is capable of transforming the team,. Ozil was available, and that is never a good enough reason to sign a player! Fergie looked at him himself and didnt make a move... let him flop at Madrid, how many Central Midfield players do they want?? After watching Cleverley the other night in the reserves, Watching Scholes last night, and with Anderson to come back I think we've better players already here! could be wrong but that was always my gut feeling!!
I don't get why everyone is crying about madrid signing players they don't need, Jose is the manager now and perhaps he want's to build a decent team rather than just buy big names and rely on the big names they have that have not done well.
