He's the only natural right back we have, Jones and Smalling arent natural right backs, though Smalling is way ahead of Jones in my book at RB or CB.

I feel we need to sign a natural left back and right back for some competition for Rafael and Evra.

It's another reason for us to treat Fabio fairly. Whilst we have both of them we've got an advantage if Madrid or Barca come calling for one or the other.

I think Fergie hasn't forgiven Rafael for costing us that qf vs Bayern,he too quick with the stick despite the very good understanding between him and Valencia. SAF with all his experience ought to know that when you play such a young fullback such errors are to be expected and its the same with De Gea. Jones delivered some horrible performances in his supposed natural position but he is never dropped just shifted to a new spot within the team. Seems like Fergie is more concerned with keeping the English lads happy as testified by that double substitution of bringing Rooney and Welbeck on needlessly.

He is still the most overrated player in our squad.

There's still a long way to go for him to be a world beater. Still far too prone to huge mistakes.

I agree to an extent. I wouldn't say he's our most overrated player though. He's just to naive to his defensive duties and seems a little over confident at times. Going forward he's spot on but he's need to concentrate on he's defending alot more if he's gunna realise his potential. Rafael will come good :)

Owenzy needs to calm down though.

    No.

More inconsistent than all our wingers. Not reliable. Just as capable of an outstanding game as he is of a dreadful error. At least he's improved his fitness. Based on his best games for us he can go on to be one of the world's best full backs but his inconsistency will stop that but on here you'd be led to believe he can be the next Cafu. It'll never happen. Incredibly naive too.

If fitness permits then he is nailed on to go on to be world beater. I think you do him a slight disservice when you call him most overrated in the squad. His deficiencies are all mental ,not technical and we have in our midst a veteran cb who had such issues-remember Rio at 21? The mental aspects will be done away with experience and patience from the manager.
He also has that annoying tendency to switch off when he is on top of his opponent. His defensive skill shines when he faces a dangerous opponent like Bale/Ribery/Robinho. In his worst outings he is rarely troubled by an opponent and out of the blue he serves a brainfart. Complacency and again solved by ,you guessed it...
When you think of where the likes of Evra,Alves,Maicon and Cafu were at 21 then you will realise that our Rafael is doing just fine.

LOL. Rooney is more overrated than Rafael. About 12 United fans think Rafael is good.

Still young and learning - ability is there - just needs the maturity added to his game and experience.

You kind sir should thank whatever God you bow to that you are not a manager. Because certainly in your team the likes of Giggs,Xavi,Ferdinand will never make it because they ,each one of them, displayed a touch of inconsistency, naivety and general shitness at very significant points in their careers. This is why there are genius manager there to guide and extract the potential they show. His weakness will be coached out of him in due time.
I bet you are one those that sing praise to Jones as the next England and United captain but completely fail to appreciate that Rafael,at Jones' age had been there and done plenty more.

I love the lad. He's young and he makes mistakes but the potential is there for all to see.

Rooney is being called so overrated he's about to become underrated. The man's our 4th highest goalscorer of all time. He has a scoring rate of about 1 goal every 2 games and whether you like it or not will leave the club as one of our best players of all time.

Rafael is very overrated and many think the twins will be dominating our wingback positions for years. I have even seen them being called the best youngsters in Europe and that we should worry about Barcelona taking them! Rafael is still young but his tendency to completely switch off at vital part of games has not improved at all since being here.

Wouldn't swap Rafael for any other RB in the league. He's already a top full back.
