The Sun is claiming that a proposed loan move to Burnley is on hold until after the game against Leeds.

An intelligent guess. Pogba, if he scores a screamer + has a good game against Leeds, will definitely be pushing for a first team place. If he is average, he'll probably get a loan move to get some more 'real' football to see if he can make that next step up. WIn-win, really, because I think he has the talent to succeed no matter what happens next Wednesday.

I don't think he needs a loan. People are usually sent out to improve their game but he is, to be fair, top drawer already.

I think it'll depend on the Leeds game. He'll start, and if he puts in a blinder or even a good shift, he'll stay. If he's mediocre he may get a loan move.

My money's on having a blinder.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Pogba handles the scum match especially with such a hostile crowd. If he lives up to his hype then its a fantastic addition to our midfield for this seasons campaigns.

Game against Leeds is like an acid test... and I guess the best possible game to judge him as well...

Yeah because that's how Fergie work is it? 'Pogba, go score a screamer and you will have a chance.' does anyone actually understand football on here?
Fact is, now he is training with the first team, if he shows maturity and applys himself on the training ground, then goes and has a good solid performance v leeds(scoring a screamer or not) then Fergie will reward him with maybe a few champs league home games..and the next round of carling cup games. Lets hope he does play well at Leeds, cos i think the OT fans deserve to see more of him.

David Beckham scored on his debut against Galatassaray in a four nil win, and then went on loan to Preston North End shortly afterwards.

So I believe that IS how Sir Alex Ferguson works.

I won't second guess what happens, however, I am not arrogant enough to suggest that I am the only person who 'understands how football works'; I do however think that if David Beckham's career is anything to go by, then a loan to Burnley would not do Paul Pogba any harm.

    Pogba primed for Leeds chance

Sir Alex intends to throw Paul Pogba into the lion's den at Elland Road on Tuesday night as United meet old foes Leeds in the Carling Cup third round.

The Reds are still smarting from the shock FA Cup defeat the Yorkshiremen inflicted at Old Trafford in January 2010 and will aim to avenge that result by blending youth and experience.

French prospect Pogba picked up a slight knock in the Reserves' 2-1 win against Rochdale last Thursday but is in line for his senior debut. Although it promises to be a hostile occasion, Sir Alex has no qualms about fielding the talented midfielder.

"He's got a slight injury," the boss said, speaking at the launch of the club's new partner, Malaysian snack giants Mister Potato. "It's not too bad, though. So he wasn't available for Sunday but he should be able to play on Tuesday and I intend to play him against Leeds United."

Sir Alex also revealed there is no prospect of Pogba being loaned out this season, despite recent reports of interest from Burnley. The teenager could, however, be farmed out in 2012/2013. For now, though, he'll remain at Old Trafford to continue his development.

"It's more difficult to loan a boy of 18 who's come from France," explained the manager.

"We prefer to keep him with us until we find he's mature enough to possibly go on loan. Maybe next year that could be an option but we're definitely expecting him this season to stay with Manchester United."

It made me laugh when the commentator on Sky Sports said he "not seen him before but he obviously needs to work on his shooting."

Anyway I guess it was a difficult game to make your debut in but he did fairly well.

Would like to think so ... but too many players already vying for the 2 midfield positions available ..... at best he could come on as a substitute once the game is all but over ...

I think there's scope for him to get some time against Otelul Galati away, as it comes between Liverpool and City in the league.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba confident of breaking into first team this season - Goal.com

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is confident of breaking into the first team at Old Trafford this season.

The Frenchman has been given reassurances over his United future by Sir Alex Ferguson, who wanted to keep the youngster at the club despite being wanted on loan.

Pogba told the French Football Federation website: "A possible loan to a Championship club was discussed early in the season, but Sir Alex said he did not want me to leave.

"That makes me want to prove he was right in trusting me. I am proud of what I’m doing. I'm getting closer to the first team and I hope to progress further this season."

Pogba admitted he was anxious ahead of making his debut at Leeds in the League Cup when he replaced Ryan Giggs at half-time.

"I was nervous but so happy to be among players like [Michael] Carrick, [Dimitar] Berbatov and [Michael] Owen," he said. "It was a nice taste of the first team and made me want even more."

The 18-year-old joined United from Le Havre in 2009 and was a key player in the Red Devils' Youth Cup triumph in May.

"We lifted the cup in front of more than 25,000 fans – it was fabulous," he added. "I always dreamed of playing teams like Chelsea and Liverpool and now it's coming true.

"We continued a Mancunian tradition by winning that trophy for the 10th time. This proves I'm not in the north of England by accident!"
