'Congratulations idol' - Neymar sends birthday wishes to Cristiano Ronaldo - Goal.com

The Brazilian youngster shares his birthday with the Portuguese superstar and confessed that the Real Madrid man is one of his idols...

Santos attacker Neymar has taken the time to congratulate Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, who turned 27 last Sunday, and described the Portugal international as his idol.

The Brazilian forward celebrated his birthday at the weekend as well as he turned 20, and feels honoured to share his date of birth, February 5, with the former Manchester United attacker.

"Before the game, I would like to congratulate my idol Cristiano Ronaldo on his birthday. What an honour to be born on the same day," Neymar said on his official Twitter account.

Neymar celebrated his birthday by netting the opener in the game against Palmeiras, but was unable to help them to victory as Santos were eventually beaten 2-1 in the Campeonato Paulista encounter.

The only chance of Ronaldo returning to OT, is when his contract expires or is close to finishing. Which would make him what..30?

Even at that, i'd have him back in a heartbeat.

IF he wanted to come back, I doubt he'd go public - unless he fancied having his ego stroked by a ridiculous Citeh offer...

SAF would know before pretty much anyone ;)

Why does Ronaldo have to go on the right wing? He plays better up front or behind the striker in the hole, moving around causeing havoc!

Exactly. Rooney and Welbeck upfront, Ronaldo playing just behind them and Nani and Valencia on the wings, i just jizzed at the thought of that attack !!! however that wouldn't work as we'd only have 1 midfielder with that line-up. LOL

""""IF""""" Ronaldo wants out of Real Madrid, he'd contact SAF about a possible return. Ferguson would be one of the first to know along with Ronaldo's family. If we can't afford him, (Which is very likely), then he'll stay at Madrid or go to Italy IMO. He would never go to City, because he'd lose all respect from Manchester United and become hated by us.

Guys guys, you all forget the UEFA Financial Fair play. City are ****ed on that even if they sell Carlos, Adabetaofa & the rest. The days of them spending big on crap or even talent are gone. Maybe one player, maybe Ronny maybe not. Depends on if City actually win the PL. If they don't, the concensus is Moancini will be off. I mean £450 million on players plus wages, a drugs scandal, Balotelli & Tevez problems and NO PL would be too much for the Sheik. UEFA say a loss of £45m over three years is allowed. This season counts towards that. At least his old house is empty.

Why are we still entertaining this stupid notion that we will return one day? He was so desperate to **** off anyway, I say let him rot in Madrid, we have one of the best wing duos in the world with Nani and Valencia, a strike force most teams would kill for as well, there's no need to spend a ridiculous amount of money on somebody who didn't want to spend his prime here, it makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

He was'nt desperate to **** off, he just saw his chance to go to Madrid and took it. He was dreaming off it since he was a boy and I'm sure he did'nt leave United on a passing fancy. Would love to have him back.

He also admitted to being open to a move to Barcelona and Valencia while he was here, so the whole "Madrid was his childhood club" argument is a load of bollocks.

He won it all here on an individually level and as part of a team. It was time for a change and he had the chance to go to Madrid which has a better climate, and is closer to his home. It was also a chance for him to go to the same league Messi was in and try and upstage him, to be honest I can't see any reason he wouldn't go.

He's also had nothing but positive things to say about everything involving the club since he left. It's not like he left and joined our bitter rivals because he was scared of a bit of competition like Tevez, he also stayed for a year extra when he easily could have said no and handed in a transfer request and sulked and refused to play.

Obviously we won't sign him for any sort of fee but I could see him coming back at the end of his current contract if Madrid don't renew and Madrid don't start to over-take Barca on the head to head battles and if he still remains as unhappy as he reportedly is .

He was always headed to Madrid, regardless of what the papers say. Madrid always was his childhood club. Spain is just on the border of Portugal, so obviously he would have heard of and seen Madrid play in their best years. Besides, he could have sulked and asked for a transfer request in the last year that he stayed, but instead he played and help us to another PL title. I'm grateful for what he did for the club and what he represented.
