Safe to say he won't be returning. His performances in the last 2 Clasicos, he redeemed himself, especially the one at the Camp Nou where he played his heart out. Things seem stable...for now. But after coming this far, he will stay. Besides, I don't want him back when he's 29 or so, approaching the twilight of his career. Although a slower Ronaldo isn't a bad thing by any stretch, I think we should let go of him and look to the future we have here right now with Pogba, Cleverley and co instead of trying to bring back the past.

One of the reasons I still like him over Messi... Way more versatile.

I can feel the pain in you. Madrid are top of the league and Ronaldo having a much better season than Messi. It's okay to cry.

I what way is he more versatile? apart from heading and maybe power I dont see any other category in which Ronaldo surpasses Messi at all.

It's not just about the backheel... He's just very versatile... Another player would've passed it off or tried to turn around with it... He just did the quickest thing possible and he did it with power and accuracy... Not many players in the world can pull that off.

You just answered your own question. You mentioned two ways he's more versatile! Add freekicks to that list.

And don't put words in my mouth. I never said he 'surpasses' him. I said I like him better and I think he's more versatile. me liking him better is just an opinion, him being more versatile is a fact.

This is why I can't really appreciate Messi's caliber when people like you always slander other players just to one up them. I couldn't tell the last time Ronaldo missed a penalty. How can you score too many penalties? Do you want him to miss on purpose?

Fair enough, he is physically a better athlete, that's about it, Ronaldo doesn't have the touch, the dribbling ability, creativity, their finishing is on par, their on par as far as set pieces are concerned, and of course the reason why I believe Messi is the best footballer in the planet, he comes up in the big stage far more often than Ronaldo does, simples. Basically what I'm trying to say is that although Ronaldo might be the better physical specimen, footballing wise he doesn't touch Messi.

Ronaldo has plenty of dribbling ability and the touch, messi has more and I'll agree to that but don't say 'he can't touch him'. They're not on par in set pieces. He's not on Ronaldos level with dead-balls. Ronaldo invented his own style of striking the ball. Messi does it the way everybody else does.
In regards to showing up on the big stage, a lot of that has to do with messi's teammates. He's playing with the Spanish national team!!! Most of his team have been playing with each other since they were kids. Their chemistry has been brewing for almost two decades.

So what if Ronaldo has a unique way of striking the football? what counts is effectiveness, Messi is at the very least on par with Ronaldo as far as effectiveness in set pieces goes, and yes Messi is the better player by a considerable margin, it doesn't matter if he plays for Barcelona or not he has always been the bigger big game performer, I would really love to see what his goalscoring record against the top European sides is compared to Ronaldo's, chemistry has little to do with it, not even when he was with us, when he had developed a perfect understanding with our attacking players did he have a penchant to score against the top sides, even domestically the only true side he ever dominated was Arsenal, and that was mostly based on the fact that Arsenal struggle against top physical footballer.

    Explain...

That was Messi's first free kick goal in over a year, Ronaldo has 5 free kick goals this season to his name. Not to mention Messi has already missed 2 penalties this season
