Best film/documentary I've seen in a while. Brillant portrayal of his life. Shame he died when he did because himself and Schumacher could have been one of the greatest battles ever. Everyone buy this or steal it, I for one throughly enjoyed it.
I was lucky enough to get it from a boot sale quite a while ago. Brilliant film about a racing legend and highly recommended. This is also available on zune for those of us with x-boxes I dont think Shuey would have beaten Fangios record for world titles if Senna hadnt of died when he did.
Amazing film. Amazing man. There was so much more to Ayrton than simply being the greatest driver in F1 history - no one film could have covered everything, but this comes close. Quite simply the greatest docufilm I have ever seen. Here's my original thoughts on it. http://www.manutdtalk.com/forums/tv-films-books/39673-senna-no-fear-no-limits-no-equal.html
saw it on Monday. Brilliant. Schumacher would have had less titles if Senna had not died too soon. He was the best. I remember I sat in front of tv all the time when they showed his funeral. Seeing these pictures again at the end of that film made me cry. Brazilian people didnt have much at that time, only Senna and football.
Its a shame his nephew doesnt seem to have any of the family ability, i know he wasnt allowed to enter racing till very late in his life but I just wished Bruno had of used his real name and not Ayrtons because it devalues it kind of...i know what i mean
I believe it was the familiy's wish that Bruno used the "Senna" name. It has to put a ton of pressure on him because whatever he does in a car, it's going to be inevitably measured against Ayrton. Also the Senna name is an amazing marketing tool, and to a young F1 driver, attracting sponsors is almost as important as in car ability. To be honest, his retirement from Melbourne actually wasn't his fault.
No but i think he's had more dissapointing races than good ones. The name does irk me slightly...same with the helmet design which is taken from Ayrton. I'd just rather have known he got their through his own ability and not his uncles reputation
That is indeed young Bruno. And Senna says in the film that "he is much faster than me" The 1994 review is very hard to watch, my VHS copy even has Senna's final lap from his onboard camera, you see the infamous Kroenenborg ad hoarding coming up on the right, and the car starts to drift - and then it goes black. It's a haunting image.
Imo it was a disgrace that this race was taking place even, after the Austrian died a day before. Barrichello on Friday, then Ratzenberger....as if that wasnt shocking enough. And why the x was this race restarted after Sennas crash? Saw that with friends, we were all aware he could be dead.
Under Italian law it should have been cancelled after Ratzenberger's death. Regarding Senna, his actual death wasn't confirmed until after the race had finished (although it was only artificial means keeping him alive) - but with hindsight it was probably the wrong decision. There are a lot of excellent books covering the whys and wherefore's of the accident and everyone has their own opinions. For the record the fatal injury was a ruptured Temporal artery, but there were also several fractures at the base of his skull which could have been fatal. (A piece of shrapnel pierced his visor just above his right eye) Such an awful weekend all round, Barrichello, Ratzenberger dying and then Senna (plus a Ferrari mechanic seriously injured by a flying wheel)
look at the three on the podium. not spraying champagne, but still celebrating....especially Schumacher. Smiling, looks proud. Bizarre. Tbf they all didnt´t know he was dead in that moment. We had teletext running then and I remember long before the death was officially announced there were headlines he´s dead.
Don't have a go at schumi - he broke down in tears years later when he found out he'd levelled one of senna's records (wins?)
I dont have a go at him, he was crying when they told him what happened. They did not tell them before the winners ceremony. But they should. Looked like a bad comedy, that ceremony.
