That is interesting, especially considering that many Scottish clubs are struggling with debt so that would help with those problems as well. Also, with the weak financial position of Scotland and the fact that the clubs can't compete with other nations, then I think it would make sense and would certainly make everyone (chairmen, managers etc) think a bit more. There's certainly no chance of it happening though, other ideas that are less radical have been scoffed it.

The second point needs to happen anyway, again considering the weak finances. Clubs have to start focusing on bringing through young players, it's the only way imo.

I agree, they're trying to hold the rest to ransom again. The other clubs should call their bluff and see if they've got the balls to go through with what they're threatening.

It's going to wind up very messy, but Rangers (maybe not now) and Celtic have far too much power. The last team to threaten their duopoly was Sir Alex's Aberdeen, and that was 27 years ago (and will never happen without a huge financial boost to another side)

What Sir Alex did at Aberdeen by building a team and promoting youngsters will never be replicated. The financial gap between Celtic and the others isn't so much a "gap" as a chasm.

It just gets worse. Tbh, I don't know why anyone would want to buy a Scottish club in such a position.

So, it was inevitable but Celtic have finally clinched the title with a 6-0 win over Kilmarnock. Whatever anyone says, it's fully deserved - Celtic were well ahead even before Rangers got points deducted, and did a fantastic job to overturn the deficit after being around 15 points behind at one stage.

It always looks like it's nearly done at the bottom as we go into the split. It's still mathematically possible for Dunfermline to stay up, but based on Dunfermline's form and quality they look unlikely to overturn the gap on Hibs.

However, the European chase looks like it will be a good one. Motherwell well ahead and look like they're going to clinch the CL place, as it looks unlikely Rangers will be playing in Europe. But the chase for the last European place, possibly 2 if Rangers are unable to play in the Europa League either, is close with 3 teams still in with a chance.

Ross County were promoted to the SPL last night, after Dundee were only able to draw. Cue inevitable moaning next season from everyone accept Inverness about having to travel away up North to play them

The Hibees are off to Hampden!!!   (again :p)

We won 2-1 today against Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup (at Hampden), so will be going back to play in the final against either Hearts or Celtic. No Scottish Cup win in 110 years, it's always been a curse but there's the chance of getting rid of that.

No matter who ends up in the final, Hibs will go into the game as the underdogs which might be a positive. Here's hoping!

What a complete mess. Add this to the fact that the administrators have still not named a preferred bidder, and Ally McCoist and others talking about liquidation being a real threat, it doesn't look like getting better any time soon.

I think there's a real possibility that Rangers, in their current format, will go under.

And that will probably drag the Scottish game down with it. The Old Firm matches were the major TV selling point.

Rangers get hit with 1 year transfer embargo - it goes from bad to worse for them.
