No, we've got 2 for some reason. We did have 1, but I'm guessing another country went down the co-efficients or something. It couldn't have been Scottish teams having success anyway We had 2 EL places as well, and one for the cup winners. But Hearts won the cup and already had a place, so St Johnstone get their place. St Johnstone are playing a Turkish team in their game in the qualifiers.
Well, it looks like Celtic could be the only team getting through in Europe. They will be playing HJK Helsinki, as they're 7-0 up from the first leg. As for the other team in the CL, Motherwell have been drawn to play Panathinaikos which is a very difficult game. I can't see them getting through. As for the EL, St Johnstone lost 2-0 last night to the Turkish team Eskisehirspor, so they're probably out already. If they somehow get through though, they'll be playing Marseille. Dundee United have been drawn against Dinamo Moscow.
Damn it, Celtic 3 points clear of the likely challengers already. I'll say again that was a jammy, jammy goal - Aberdeen were playing well too.
I don't know why Aberdeen have persisted with Langfield. He really has made a lot of mistakes for them over the years he's played for them. As for Hibs, well they received yet another thrashing today - losing 3-0 to Dundee United. I expected them to win as they're a far better team, but I saw absolutely nothing from Hibs to suggest things will be any better than last season. Absolutely diabolical.
They brought this agreement-type thing in (I don't know what word to use as it's not really a written rule as such I don't think) that every team could have a weekend's fixture postponed, if they needed it, so that they can play a "big" friendly. It was really brought in for the OF, so that they could play glamour friendlies like tomorrow's game.
It looks like Celtic are the only team with a chance of progressing in Europe. They were drawn to play Helsingborgs, which were Henrik Larsson's team in Sweden. St Johnstone and Dundee United are already out after they got hard games and were eliminated. Motherwell lost in the CL but have dropped down to the Europa League where they've been drawn to play Levante, while Hearts play Liverpool. In conclusion, this backs up my earlier point about league reconstruction etc as Scottish clubs have no chance in European competition any more anyway.
