So while Fergie was visiting Queroz yesterday he also signed this lad? Yet again the papers knew nothing about it.

Personal terms have been agreed with the 20-year-old and he will move to Old Trafford for an undisclosed fee reported to be around £7 million.

The player was recommended to the club by former assistant manager and current Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz.

The Portuguese forward had also been closely linked with Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid but he will join fellow new signing Javier Hernandez as Sir Alex Ferguson bolsters the Red Devils' forward line.

Bebe only signed for Vitoria five weeks ago after joining from Estrela da Amadora and, despite his tender years, has a strong physical presence as well as technical aptitude, vision and good passing skills.

The 6'2" forward becomes United's third major capture of the summer, joining Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez in moving to Old Trafford.

I don't think he is a signing for the first team. I can see him being a reserve player for this season.

I just hope he is not a Tosic.

This. If we have signed him on CQ recomendation then it looks like it was on only 5 weeks otherwise surely we have been n earlier?

that new vid defo makes him look more of a winger than a striker. perhaps SAF sees him as that AMC we all crave.

im hoping this means we are that skint and we still might see a midfileder, even if its someone unknown like this.

It's not ridicuous. Actually we should just stick O'Shea in Goal and play 8 strikers plus Valencia and Nani infron of him.

Dunno why everybody is saying he's shit and not good enough from the Prem.

He looks pretty good to me:

I think it is unfair to get annoyed about Ferguson signing him just because we have Hernandez, you never know, some strikers may be leaving us next transfer window or Bebe may be loaned back to his old club.

A lot of you preach about giving people like Diouf a chance but you just write off a new signing? Honestly at least wait until you've seen a full game!

This boy looks like he was signed because Quieroz tipped Ferguson off about his talent. I'm sure if this kid isn't decent Ferguson wouldn't have wasted the money and the time buying him and Quieroz wouldn't have suggested him on the first place.

So on behalf of all the United fans that have manners, welcome to Old Trafford Bebe!

    In any case,

I think he's going out on loan after a few weeks at Carrington.
There's no way he's ready for premier league action. The coaches will want to look at him, give him some training schedules and then send him back to Portugal for top flight experience. I'd be surprised if we him play for United this season.

His 5 week new club just made 7.5m, perhaps we could just sell him on to Real now for 15m?

    lol. Kiddin.

Yeah id be surprised if we was being lined up up for much first team action this season. I wonder how good his english is? Maybe a championship club on loan would be great as we can monitor him and always have him up in manchester for training occasionally.

Are we planning to play a 4-2-4 formation next season?

Fergie must really rate Queiroz' opinion to splash out £7m+ on a relatively unknown player with no real pedigree.

Hernandez already looks a snip at £7m. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether the same can be said of Bebe.

Manchester United have signed striker Bebe from Vitória de Guimarães for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical.

The 20-year-old only moved to Guimarães five weeks ago from Portuguese third division club Estrala da Amadora.

But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to have triggered a release clause in the Portuguese's contract, reported to be around £7m.

Bebe, who was linked with Real Madrid, has agreed terms with the Red Devils and will undergo a medical this week.

The 6ft 2in forward becomes United's third major capture of the summer, joining Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez in moving to Old Trafford.

Bebe signed a five-year contract with Guimarães in July but has been snapped up by United, reportedly after former Reds assistant manager Carlos Quieroz recommended the player to Ferguson.

Bebe has no senior caps but has represented Portugal in the homeless World Cup after spending part of his childhood living on the streets.

He becomes the eighth forward on United's books.

the hernandez signing was a bit more understandable because he had just had a 20 goal season as the main striker for the biggest club in mexico, and had scored like 7 or 8 goals for the full national team...

but bebe is GENUINELY an unknown quantity...

ps. if anybody thinks my posts are negative on the boy, i can asure you they are are not purposely... its just, like so many, i feel completely and utterly in the dark about bebe

I maintain that we still knew nothing about this - so there may well be a midfield deal or two in the OT oven....
